    :oops: Speaking of nails. Boiler was drained on a domestic job by bathroom fitter and wouldn't fire. Turned out customer had BG homecare. Next day an attractive young lady turned up to fix boiler when she took off her gloves she had bright pink nail polish !!

    bought an irwin for 8 quid. the blade constantly was left behind in work plaster or whatever. got to the point i lost confidence inputting pressure on it. spoke to many plasterers who advised fixed blade knife. Bought one never looked back.

    a question for westie really... If you make an application for a 3ph supply and on the application you estimate your demand at 37k.v.a. Would you have the supply cable and cut out fuses laid/installed accordingly ?

    I am unclear. Steve the 40amp breaker labeled cooker. When turned off do you loose power to a cooker as well as shower?

    Hello Steve. Get an electrician out mate. If your correct Your 6mm cable is being fed direct from the main switch. Potentially very dangerous. Are you sure that there is no other smaller fuse boards or smaller fuse switches anywhere?

    Sorry typo. I have come across many an rcd new and old which does not trip in recommended times. It's a testament to BS7671. As long as an installation is designed constructed and tested as per regs it's as safe as its going to be.

    And despite all your quoted f acts and figures I've not heard of a single fatality caused where a correctly installed mcb failed to operate because it was faulty
