New plaster but damp issue which paint to use

I didn't get much joy with a post in the builders forum last night. Hopefully I'll get something back from this. Today I stripped some of the paint and cleaned up the wall. I have limited time at the moment due to work so I go along when i can. I also got the heat gun out to help dry some of...

What to use on external damp/wall? Render - if so mix with any additives?

Hi All, To cut a long story short, the gully was cracked and we found out we had an issue when the kitchen was plastered and painted with a mist quote. I have now had the time to look into this further and today I spent some time breaking up the remainder gully area. This is shared between...

Kitchen waste pipe to gutter pipe? To look tidy.

Hi Hugh, i'll make some enquiries but their waste pipe is coming from the other side of our wall so guessing that it could be done. I'd rather not have to see or muck about with the neighbours waste... After all it'll be me that will end up cleaning it! So what you're saying for the 1st option...

Can you cut and join a washing machine inlet hose with another?

Hi, my brother recently found out that he had a leak and the source was the washing machine. Now normally you'd just replace the inlet hose, but the inlet hose is connected to an isolater in the corner cupboard section which is now inaccessible. It appears to have been an after thought...

Kitchen waste pipe to gutter pipe? To look tidy.

Thank you Hugh / Nige. Having gone over today, to prep everything, we also have the neighbours waste pipe which is also 42mm and exits into our gully. If the neighbour agrees (can't see why not), could we also connect their pipe in addition to ours? So we'll have 3 connections 2x 42mm waste &...

Kitchen waste pipe to gutter pipe? To look tidy.

Hello all, I'm wondering what you would do when installing a new waste pipe from the kitchen. This will be a new 42mm pipe used for the sink, washing machine + dishwasher. I was originally thinking about going into the gutter with an adaptor to keep things looking clean. Would be great to...

New plaster but damp issue which paint to use

Hi ted, I don't really know, these are terraced houses. I'm in one of the middle ones, I just thought that every few houses they'll be man holes. My opposite neighbour for example doesn't have a man hole either, but he shares his house with an end terrace so suspect they'll be one there also. I...

New plaster but damp issue which paint to use

Hi ted, okay so earlier today I asked the neighbours if they had any issues with the paint work/dampness in the kitchen area and I was told nothing that they had noticed. I've taken some pictures and their outside wall appears to be in good nic, much better than mine. The kitchen itself is...

New plaster but damp issue which paint to use

Cheers Ted will do. I'll call into the neighbours and ask them whether they've had or are displaying any damp issues in the kitchen. Hopefully I can have a look myself. The party wall and the wall adjacent (the one with the thistle multi bags on the floor is affected - more so the partition...

New plaster but damp issue which paint to use

Hi All, The gutter appears to have been the problem, that has now been removed. However, I am uneasy as the bottom part of the wall and the surrounding area is quite wet. Even in this wonderful weather there's no chance that it's going to dry anytime soon. Therefore, what do i need to do to...

Drainage outside kitchen (sink/gutter) cracked = new damp issue

Thanks. Digging in this heat is very difficult. I'm going to leave it for a few days so it can dry as much as it can in the heat. The thing is - it's so wet it's gonna take months (that correct) to dry? And if so, what an earth will I need to do with the kitchen painting issue etc, i can't leave...

Drainage outside kitchen (sink/gutter) cracked = new damp issue

That's all i could do today. As i am digging the clay/mud is very wet indeed. I'll need to take out the makita and chisel that nasty concrete that's in casing the pipe. I put the water on to see if any leaks were showing, but none as yet so I'll continue tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be cooler!

Drainage outside kitchen (sink/gutter) cracked = new damp issue

Sure thing. I’ll get those over for viewing tomorrow. No it’s not going through a wall. Hopefully new pictures will make it clearer.

Drainage outside kitchen (sink/gutter) cracked = new damp issue

Looks like we also have issues further down - the clay is very wet. Which I don’t believe is normal. It’s looking like we’ll need to break up the entire connection to the sewer section. Am wondering how we would insert a new pipe into that...

New plaster but damp issue which paint to use

Yes the mesh is as you say was 1m x 50m. There is no plasterboard, even I don't recall the walls being damp in fact, if you take a look at this picture before we started to rip it out everything was okay. These are the current pictures. The only thing i recall is that previously there...

Drainage outside kitchen (sink/gutter) cracked = new damp issue

Hi all, thanks for all the comments. I'm going to attempt to to it myself and will dig further including break out the current gully and locate the rest of the pipe work. The new paint as posted in the other thread is starting to peel off badly and this issue needs to be fixed...
