    Which van?

Thanks for everyone's input. I did a search on here for Vivaro, there are pages and pages of people wanting advice as theirs was giving them problems. I did the same with Transit, there's hardly any. I'm definitely going for a Transit, I don't like the look of them but I do like their...

    Which van?

I hate the look of the Transit. But if they were far superior to the Vivaro, then I would have to consider them.

    Which van?

Thanks gentlemen. I love VW but I really can't go any higher on the price. I'm happy to rule Renault out.

    Which van?

I'm going to buy a new panel van, I've got about £8,500 to spend. I want something with reasonably low mileage and 2 or 3 years old which means my choices are the Vivaro, Transit, Traffic, Primaster etc. I'd like to go with VW and Merc, but would mean getting an older one, with higher...

    Pergola beams

Thanks for your reply. You mean take another 47 x 150 timber and lay it across the pergola main beams (at 90 degrees), cutting notches so the timbers slide into each other? This means adding weight to the main pergola beams, does this matter?

    Pergola beams

How often should I fix noggins?

    Pergola beams

I want to run some pergola beams, connected to the house at one end and spanning over my deck, each 47 x 150. The span is 4.0 metres. Will this be okay, they will not bear any weight, but I was worried they may twist and buckle over time. Any help appreciated.

    Sticking gates

I fitted these gates and posts just before Christmas and I was very pleased with myself. Thing is, now they won't open. You can't really see from the picture too well but the coss beam has warped (upwards) slightly, and I'm thinking it has pulled the two posts closer together, and...

    New top soil for lawn

I was going to scatter bone meal on the soil, is this the same thing?

    New top soil for lawn

I'm getting our back garden ready to turf; I've removed our old turf and got rid of it. Some areas were low so I've had some screened top soil delivered and raised the low areas with the new top soil. I've levelled the garden now, but you can clearly see the areas where ive added the new...

    Preparing for new lawn

I've renovated the back garden and will lay new turf soon. I've been walking across it quite a bit as I've had to sort out the borders. Should I go over it again but set the rotivator on a high setting so it just churns up a thin top layer? Thanks.

    Rotavating

The tines weren't working properly, Jewsons came out and got it going - working great. Thanks for your help.

    Rotavating

It's a medium duty rotivator, hired from Jewsons. It had a reverse and forward gears, it has got powered wheels. It does have an adjustable depth control. Don't know what the soil type is, my fork goes in easy enough, and I can turn it over quite easily, and it breaks up easily with a tap...

    Rotavating

I tried to rotavate my garden today, although the ground was reasonably soft the rotivator just wouldn't dig in, it just sort of scratched the surface. I got my fork and turned the earth over, so it looks like a ploughed field, now the rotivator gets through it. Is this the only way to do...

    Preparing for a new lawn

Thanks for your replies. Everywhere I have read you should rotavate. However, the levels are all over the place and I wouldn't get my rake into the soil, so rotavating will help me move the soil around.
