    Feature wall - lining paper?

I'm going to paper a wall in our lounge, should I use lining paper underneath first, or just go right ahead with the top paper? It's a new build with near perfect painted plasterboard Walls. Many thanks.

    Ear phones for I-Pad

I've got a new I-Pad, my sons will want to play games etc (in quiet :D ), I'm sure you can buy a jack or something that will allow 2 people to have a pair of headphones each, so they can both listen at the same time? Also, does anyone know where you can get ear phones with a very long cable...

    Holding Page

I'm starting a new business in the next few weeks and would like a one-page website/holding page, nothing flashy. Just somewhere to show about 4 pictures and some text. Once it's built I won't need to change any text or photos, maybe just once or twice change a picture but very few changes...

Connecting a joist to a building

I'm going to build a pergola in the garden which will mean attaching a few joists (150 x 50) to a building. It's an old building constructed from very soft Norfolk Red bricks. How would I connect my joists to the building, it would need to look neat as it will be on show, so I assume this...

    Some sort of fabric?

I'm looking for a very light fabric to staple to the back of my trellis. It's very thin, transclucent. A bit like landscaping fabric but much thinner and lighter. I can't remember where I've seen it or what it's called. Can anyone help? Thanks.

    Best timber for the job?

I have built myself some timber racks in my garage. I made the shelves from crushed burch which costs about £50 per sheet :!: I then got some plastic crates to sit on the shelves so now I have somewhere to store my wide range of tools - very pleased with myself  However, over...

Top soil on top of grass

I have built myself a raised bed out of sleepers. I've built it on top of the lawn, can I just chuck a load of top soil in there now and get planting, or do I need to remove the grass first or something like that? Also, why do some people line the inside of the sleepers with landscaping...

    Concrete slab

I have a large existing concrete slab in the front of my house, I'm thinking of laying some stones on it for decoration. But I will need to drive my car across it, I'm guessing this probably isn't a good idea as I may struggle with traction and stones firing up like bullets. Can someone...

    Slabs on top of slabs

Someone has given me some nice new slabs, I'm going to lay them down the side of my house giving me a path to my shed. I need to raise the level a bit, can I put some old concrete slabs down (I have laying about) and then lay the new slabs on a mortared bed on top? Or should I bash the old...

Is this soil good enough for turf

It comes with it's own top soil but surely it grows into the soil below? I've been reading the posts on here and some say you should bring in about 100mm of loamy top soil before laying turf, this will mean me removing 100mm of soil first. Just need to know if I really have to do it...

Is this soil good enough for turf

I'm getting ready to lay some turf. I used a fork to break up the area before rotavating as the ground was rock hard and the rotavator was not able to dig in some areas and it would suddenly take off at 100 mph. The soil came up in large clumps but with a bash with the fork they broke down...
