Add 2nd socket to existing spur socket

I assumed I need a fused spur before the first (existing) 13amp socket I have on my spur rather than the fuse being in the sockets I fit, so that everything after the fused spur is protected.

Add 2nd socket to existing spur socket

Yes I think I'll do that, my CAD drawing didn't accurately capture that

Add 2nd socket to existing spur socket

Thanks for confirming, I thought it was correct but always good to run it buy on here.

Add 2nd socket to existing spur socket

Hi folks, I have a 13amp socket spur taken from the ring, if i insert a fused spur before the original spur socket can I then add a second spur 13amp socket by via cable from the first spur socket? I appreciate total of both spur sockets would be limited to 13amp loading.

Yes it is, fusebox was replaced in 2010 so should be ok.

Add socket to existing ex immersion cable

Thanks, that's what I thought but wanted to check on here.

Add socket to existing ex immersion cable

Hi, I have a non ring cable (2.5 TE fed from a 16a mcb) that terminates to a spur outlet that feeds a loft mounted PIV ventilation fan (5a fuse in spur outlet to the fan). This cable used to go to an immersion heater (now gone) and reused to run the loft fan (and nothing else). Where the end of...

    Small kitchen extractor fan

Yep I installed this knowing that the fan isn't rated for that amount of travel up the stainless steel liner that's in place but couldn't find any alternative other than having some external chimney pot mounted fan which wasn't really viable.... I can't disagree that it could be a risk so I...

    Small kitchen extractor fan

I had a similar issue, cooker in old chimney breast, no other venting option, all experts recommend having an extractor that is super powerful and possibly something mounted on the chimney pot too, As a part time bodger I found the Vortice 'Vort Kappa' extractor fan fits into my small chimney in...

Grant Vortex Combi 26 random demand LED

Just a followup in case it helps others (or me in another 9 years time) - I replaced the DHW thermistor and no improvement, still got random DHW demand light flashing for 20 seconds before settling down and letting either the hot water or central heating kick in properly. I then replaced the...

Grant Vortex Combi 26 random demand LED

I've just ordered a new PCB with 2 thermistors, will look to fit thermistors on the weekend and see if that cures the problem, if not then I'll fit the PCB. Thanks chaps!

Grant Vortex Combi 26 random demand LED

Thanks, sounds like a plan, I'll swap the thermistors around first and see if that transposes the problem.... next a new PCB which will probably be needed sooner or later anyway :D

Grant Vortex Combi 26 random demand LED

Thanks for advice, I'll take a look at those.

Grant Vortex Combi 26 random demand LED

Hi thanks for replying, I pulled the flow switch 2 wire connector off the PCB to eliminate it (I assume) and the problem continued without the switch in circuit so think it's another thing. I do have a new spare flow switch so could try it (and no doubt it'll need replacing soon as they fail /...

Grant Vortex Combi 26 random demand LED

Hi all - my external Grant combi vortex 26 oil boiler has started to randomly cause the hot water demand LED to briefly flash on and off which results in the boiler trying to heat up for a fraction of a second, in a short burst of 5 to 10 attempts. It usually calms down after a while (once...

    Vent near to sewer manhole

Thanks everyone, my soil stack is certainly working (I've been up and can smell and hear it working and all seems good) the low level vent is also clear and goes into the manhole. No blockage at all....the sewer smell wafts out from the ground vent under certain conditions, when wind is blowing...

    Vent near to sewer manhole

Hi, I live in a terrace house, typical Victorian row of 4 houses, each house connects to a shared private sewer at the back, this then runs underneath my garage extension and out to the main sewer in the road. The manhole on my driveway at the front has an odd 6 inch pipe that vents out at a...

Grant oil combi - pumps intermittent

Thanks for the reply, good info to know. Yes the copper strip is what I bent slightly, a small piece of plastic fell out which I assume held it in place and broke away. One pump was replaced in 2014 (under warranty) but that switch failed in 2017... so pretty poor I reckon. Oh well, the whole...
