    40cm x 40cm cooker extractor fan?

Hi, sorry I didn't make it clearer, here's some extra info: sorry image info is dire :D Ignore the worktop to the left, it's a 50cm depth so looks deceptive and is to be removed. So new worktop right across, under counter electric oven, inductor hob and hope to get small extractor at...

    40cm x 40cm cooker extractor fan?

I've had my chimney breast raised as much as possible for a built under cooker and induction hob, there's a metal flue in situ and am trying to find an extracter fan to fit into the small 40cm x 40cm opening we've now got. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm considering modfiying one if...

    Mortar repairs on balcony

Hi, I've got a balcony with some capping stones and metal handrail bedded into this. The mortar between the capping stones (or whatever they're called) is falling away in places and I want to rake out and repair. What would be the best mortar and mix for this sort of job? Thanks.

    Woolworths STB

I think it's similar to the Tevion 5214 box so maybe try that?

Removing a stripped screw... cool tool time!

I use EZ Grip paste on screws with success, assuming you use it before totally rounding off the screw head. I got mine on ebay for about £14 for large bottle sent from the US. Prior to that I used Screwdoktor paste (which sounds much more like a dodgy 70's porno!) http://www.ezgrip.net/

    What's the difference: Makita BHP453SHE vs HP457DWEX2

The cheaper version batteries don't fit other Makita products apparently (I think this is a special version B&Q get from Makita) - check the reviews and research if this is likely to be a problem for you if using with other Makita's and you'd want to swap batteries around. One reviewer...

Help Choosing Soldering Gun For Tabs On Nicad Batteries

If they're small batteries like AA, C or D size then any small iron should do = I've used 25- 50watt irons to remove and solder wires onto battery tags without a problem.

Alternatives to modern damp proof methods

I found useful info here: http://www.heritage-house.org/pages/managing-damp-in-old-buildings.html I have damp issues in my 1906 end of terrace cavity walled house (with concrete floors) - I get about 2 - 3 feet of moisture on my ground floor walls but only when it's humid weather. I'm...

New Makita drill, which of these two?

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. Not sure if I can justify the impact driver but will give it some thought.

New Makita drill, which of these two?

Hi, I'm looking at getting either a Makita BHP458RFE drill or BHP456RFE - the first model is a higher torque at 88nm vs the max torque of 50nm of the second one... I assume more torque means easier drilling into harder bricks, concrete, metal etc or is it more likely to just wear out drill...

    Televisions and rates

UK TV is broadcast at 50Hz. 100Hz CRT (tube) TV's were sold to help reduce flicker especially on larger screen sizes, the 100Hz digital processing might have reduced flicker but introduced digital artifacts so gave somewhat unnatural pictures according to some. With LCD / LED/Plasma flat...

Opening up chimney breast for cooker

Thanks for your detailed help, it's much appreciated. Am I right in thinking that this needs calcs done by structural engineer if I'm raising the height of the opening and need to get BC advised and signed off?

Opening up chimney breast for cooker

Hi, I'm looking at opening up an old chimney breast in the kitchen, it previously housed an oil fired boiler with metal liner. The liner is still there but new boiler now outside. I'm guessing that to open up another 1m means installing a lintel or similar? I'm wanting to increase the height by...
