Boiler serviced - now firing for very short periods (pics)

Yes - I bled the pump on the refill and all radiators are hot (and H/W) but boiler just firing and shutting down a lot. Is this something I would be able to check myself with a visual only check? I am well aware of not wanting to / or being able to do anything other than look! Thanks

Boiler serviced - now firing for very short periods (pics)

Hi, I had my Ideal Elan serviced just before New Year and since then it has developed a fault (I think). Now it fires many times but only for a max of about 20 seconds each time. Towards the end of the firing time there is a whistling / wind sound and then the boiler shuts down. For example...

    Joining Porch Lanterns

I have bought several of these Hereford Porch Lanterns http://www.lightingstyles.co.uk/Exterior-garden-lighting/Chain-suspended-porch-lights//Hereford_porch_chain_lantern%281%29.htm and want to connect them together in pairs. The picture below shows an old pair that I have but I can't find...

    Leaking roof (pics)

Sorry to raise this one again but I have taken the tiles off and it looks like the roof has been designed so that the water running down the tiles goes underneath the top flashing, runs off the tiles and then continues down the bottom flashing and into the gutter. As the water runs down the...

    Leaking roof (pics)

Yes, there appears to be lead over the top and underneath the tiles. Can you explain please. Is this something that can be done retrospectively?

    Leaking roof (pics)

This current batch of crap weather has produced a leak into my dining room. I don't know anything about flashings but is the picture below correct? What stops the water running down the tiles and going under the flashing? This is a shot of the underside - is the hanging felt a cause or...

Fitting Velux to cement sheet roof

Hi, I am thinking of fitting a Velux to my house in France but all of the info I can find on DIY fitting refers to a standard roof with felt and battens. My roof is cement board covered (badly!) by tiles (picture below). I have found a couple of threads about the dangers of asbestos etc...

Live on electric fire heat sink (pic)

I have these 230v fires fitted in France and all are working fine but I am getting a multimeter reading of anything from 90v to 115v between the aluminium heat sink fitted to each element and earth. This may be another stupid question, but is that correct? Thanks.
