Soundproofing a party wall without losing too much space.

You could also use sheet lead like the lead flashing that they use on roofs and hold it in place with board. I Googled "lead sheet" and found this:- http://www.midlandlead.co.uk/products/soundproofing.html

Can anyone advise how I could run this speaker cable? (pics)

John could do that. John, you can use the normal rectangular trunking to hide these wires whether you use the plasterboard or the plastic cornice trunking. I have passed plastic trunking up though plasterboard cornice trunking into the loft and it looks OK. John, if you get the MK...

Can anyone advise how I could run this speaker cable? (pics)

John, I have just checked in my 1993 catalogue and you had to buy 30m of the 40x40 trunking so maybe give MK a ring and get them to send you a catalogue to check. However, Edmundsons may have shorter alternatives, they are usually quite helpful especially if you go in with a list containing the...

How can you play a wmv downloaded from the BBC after 30 days

The BBC says that you have 30 days to watch a wmv downloaded from their iPlayer site before they "expire". Does that mean that there is some software attached to the video that prevents you watching it after 30 days? If so, is there any way to override that software?

How much PTFE tape on a compression olive

The leak is definitely coming from under the cap nut (I believe that is the correct term) on the outgoing side, ie the top, of the tap. Edit: added outgoing side etc.

How much PTFE tape on a compression olive

Incidentally, the amount of water seeping out appears to be quite small, about 6 hrs ago, 2 am, I wiped the tap dry and tied a thick "Plenty" kitchen towel around the nut. Now the tap is bone dry and the towel is damp but not full of water.

Do you mean use paste to seal the thread between the tap and the nut?

How much PTFE tape on a compression olive

Thanks, there maybe now because it creaked the last time that I tightened it :( That is a good idea, but if it does not seal the joint, it will make it more difficult to remove the pipe. Additionally, when I originally tightened the nut, I put an enormous amount of force on the spanner, a...

How much PTFE tape on a compression olive

Thanks gasman. To check for leaks, I fold up half a kitchen towel so that it is about 8 mm wide and then wind it round the joint. I undid the union on the stop cock but was unable to remove the pipe from the stop cock, I had previously done it up very tightly, and was reluctant to apply too...

How much PTFE tape on a compression olive

I am fitting a new 3/4 inch "tapered" copper olive to an old but clean 3/4 inch pipe in an old 3/4 inch stop cock, but it keeps seeping a very small amount of water that exits from around the thread, ie I assume it is coming from between the olive and the tap seat and that the seal between the...

Thanks, I should have added that I need to know because my manual says to bleed the front left brake first.

What does the left side of a car mean in the UK?

When the term left side of a car is used in the UK, does it mean when viewed from the drivers seat, or when standing in front of the car and looking at the windscreen? Added 4 Sept:- I should have added that I need to know because my manual says to bleed the front left brake first.
