How to remove large trees & preparation tips?

This was suggested by someone, would this mean felling them higher up leaving more of a stump sticking out instead of close to the deck

How to remove large trees & preparation tips?

I will do, just wondered if theres different options, they are usually shallow rooted but spread quite far. Ill be getting a few ground work quotes so ill see what they say.

How to remove large trees & preparation tips?

Can anyone advise on what to consider when removing large trees. I have a piece of land i'm going to have cleared to build a house on and it has 6 or 7 scots pine trees quite tall, guessing between 6 and 10m tall. Theres plenty of room to fell them but how do you remove the stump and roots...

Zoned mixed system heating over 2 floors & 16mm pipe reducers

Just having a read back over this and trying to understand these eurocones. Are they required to connect any size pipe to an UFH manifold as an essential part, or only required if the pipe to be used is a different size to the manifold size? ie: 16mm pipe into a 15mm manifold or visa versa...

Zoned mixed system heating over 2 floors & 16mm pipe reducers

Well an update, Salus misinformed me and you can connect to their hub using the wired thermostats not just the RF ones that they told me 2 days prior.

Zoned mixed system heating over 2 floors & 16mm pipe reducers

I've never heard of a deaerator, looks like a good bit of kit in the video i just seen, I'd use a magnaclean pro or Fernox Omega on the return side. The corrosion on an UFH system must be very minimal, it's all plastic except the manifold & pump and most manifolds seem to be stainless steel...

Zoned mixed system heating over 2 floors & 16mm pipe reducers

What is properly maintained? Are they supposed to be drained every few years and clean water flushed? I installed all new copper pipe system, radiators and boiler to my house when i bought it and added inhibitor, but the water in the system is black if i bleed the radiators a decade later. I...

Zoned mixed system heating over 2 floors & 16mm pipe reducers

It wouldn't be dirty on a new system, but my thoughts are, in 10 years, your radiators have started to corrode a lot and the water is always black that runs through the system. The UFH side is completely plastic and S/S mainifold so so in theory always be clean. if both halfs of the system are...

Zoned mixed system heating over 2 floors & 16mm pipe reducers

Muggles, the Salus person in technical couldn't answer any basic questions so i think they must of been standing in, they said it wasn't their normal position or something along them lines. I might have to re-enquire after reading some info they sent via email & what you said. I asked if there...

Zoned mixed system heating over 2 floors & 16mm pipe reducers

Picasso, Thanks for the info & picture. Is that 15mm multilayer or standard grey pipe? What size were the manifold ports you bought, 15 or 16? For the 15mm pipe do you add the 15mm eurocones or 16mm cones? Most manifolds are 16mm but if using 15mm pipe i wasn't sure which you pick. Reason i...

Zoned mixed system heating over 2 floors & 16mm pipe reducers

I called Salus earlier and their smart connection only works back to the hub if you use their RF stats they said. So that only leaves heatmiser wired now. I thought all wired systems worked by having the actuators and thermostats wired back to the wiring centre, and then from there if you want...

Zoned mixed system heating over 2 floors & 16mm pipe reducers

I've been looking at the Salus & heatmiser a lot, they seem popular, checked some reviews on google & trust pilot, heatmiser was good, salus got slated for after sales, but then another person i spoke to said heatmiser has had a recent software update which has caused lots of glitches that...

Zoned mixed system heating over 2 floors & 16mm pipe reducers

Sorry I maybe never explained well enough in the first post, I'm aware that systems have move on and some people now prefer to have their heating split into zones, thats why i was asking about the smart connectivity. I've done a good bit of looking into it all but stuck with a couple of things...

Zoned mixed system heating over 2 floors & 16mm pipe reducers

What's the best way to have zoned wet UFH downstairs, with zoned radiator system upstairs, using the same brand wiring centres, so that my heating can be controlled from one app system/hub instead of two? The way i was thinking of doing it was the usual for the UFH, but upstairs buying another...

Constructing stud wall on block & beam floor?

I thought of this at first but I didnt know if it was bad practise to screw a sole plate to a 70mm screed with pipes under just to prevent any holes being drilled to weaken it. Ill know where the pipes are if i pre measure and they'll be 100mm away each side anyways.

Thanks, that sounds a nice easy fix. Sometimes you over think the simple things :)

Constructing stud wall on block & beam floor?

What is the best way to construct a ground floor stud wall on block and beam that will have, insulation, UFH pipes and a 70mm screed on top? If i fix the sole plate to the block & beam, there will then be 100/150mm of insulation plus a 70mm screed on top. How do you prevent screed from filing...

Couple of quick questions on grout repair and also bath sealing

The grout floats are great if your covering a large area or doing it frequently. They move the grout around better but if you want to save a few quid and won't be doing it often there's nothing wrong with a cheap spreader. You can use anything to move grout around for small areas. Get yourself...

UPVC frame insulation & glazing tint options?

Two questions here. 1. Do all window suppliers provide insulation within the window frame or is this an extra you pay for? With U & R values being important in new builds these days and wanting to minimise heat loss I was wondering if insulation is available? 2. Can you get glazing for the...
