UFH pipe options, which is best?

The trays definitely make it look easier. Even the rails you can lay in a row at the ends where the bends are. Is that two loops or one loop of pipe used for that room? Did you find with the snail layout the whole floor is the same temperature? Just regular tubing to move it around where it...

UFH pipe options, which is best?

Thanks for the info. I'm sure all require some form of oxygen barrier within the pipe and thought this had to be aluminium, but different pipes can handle different max temperatures & pressure, and as you say, some form better than others. This is where i'm unsure. I've called some suppliers but...

UFH pipe options, which is best?

Thanks, do you think for the price of the screed sensors it's a good idea to have them in all 4/5 zones or just the two rooms with extra heat sources? I know the screed sensors are usually for the purpose of preventing overheating, and in the suggestion I was given, to use them to prevent the...

UFH pipe options, which is best?

Thought on this? Someone at the home show also said that in your kitchen where you generate heat from the cooker, and a living room where you might have a log burner, it's a good idea to add a floor screed stat as well as the room air temperature stat. These are often used to stop the floor...

UFH pipe options, which is best?

Nothing coming up on a search when i type them in. UFH comes up and is called continal, is this the correct one. They use their own brand stuff?

UFH pipe options, which is best?

Could anyone advise with some of these basic UFH questions. I've been looking at the different pipe available for wet UFH and it seems that pex-A seems to be the one thats rated the highest, for those fitting UFH, is this correct & is there any benefit to using the pert pipe or Al pert or others...

    Domestic smoke detectors without alarm?

Is this Aico? I looked on their site because it's what i have now. Where is the silencer button located, is it on one or all of the alarms on the ceiling, or an extra that you fit near an escape point? Are these to link up to a fire panel or can they be linked in the usual 3 core & earth method?

    Domestic smoke detectors without alarm?

My thoughts were that having a running MVHR system could provide extra supply to feed a fire, i understand how they work and any extracted smoke could only be dumped back outside, but i'm not sure if the amount of air supplied and extracted is significant enough to make a fire worse. Dampers...

    Domestic smoke detectors without alarm?

I may look into these in more detail. If it's over complicating the system I'll just stick with 7/8 alarmed detectors in the rooms. Need to check if it's advisable to instal some form of MVHR circuit breaker so it closes the vent system if the fire detectors alarm.

    Domestic smoke detectors without alarm?

Always going to choose life over temporary deafness but i don't think there's a need for them all to be alarmed if theres a way around it. Once in a while ours have alarmed for 3 or 4 beeps in the night, closest being the landing which is central to all bedrooms and we sure knew about it. If...

    Domestic smoke detectors without alarm?

Is it possible to buy smoke detectors that don't alarm but link up to the alarmed system. My existing home had to have 2 fitted to comply with the regs and zones, one in the hall one on the landing, but i added an additional two, to rooms with multiple appliances that pose a fire risk. When one...

    Tanking shed wall, what's best?

Looking for any good recommendations for tanking slurry unless they are all much alike? Despite repairs, I have a bit of water ingress coming in on a block built outhouse made from 4 inch concrete blocks, it's single skin, but one side of it backs up against a garden. On the garden side i've...

    SAP assessment prices

I think it will be all of the above from what i've picked up because it was mentioned about flow rates of taps and how many sinks and toilets, the thermal insulation of the build too.

    SAP assessment prices

What's a sensible price to pay for SAP assessment on a new build? Do these vary per build or usually a set price for a company? A builder i spoke to said they vary between £100 and £180 on average. My architect uses the same person each time but they charge £350.

Soil stack distance from boiler flue pipe distance

No boiler specified yet as SAP need to be involved. Just in the design process for a build. Neither pipe will be near a soffit as they are on a large gable end. The best way to describe it without showing the plan is... The boiler is on the ground floor and theres an ensuite above it on the 1st...

Soil stack distance from boiler flue pipe distance

yes it will be plastic. Never realised the manufacturers instructions varied so much so may have to look at switching the upstairs bathroom toilet position so the soil pipe exit is in a different position and the soil stack can be moved further away from the boiler wall flue. It's too close now...

Soil stack distance from boiler flue pipe distance

So would 250mm between the outer edge (350c/c) of each pipe be too close, taking an average of most boiler instructions?

Soil stack distance from boiler flue pipe distance

So each boiler has a different spacing even with the same 100/110mm diameter flue exit? I thought it would be down to gas regs.

Soil stack distance from boiler flue pipe distance

What is the minimum distance that a horizontal boiler flue pipe has to be away from a vertical soil stack outside where the flue pipe exits the wall?

Window sill heights for toughened glass new build?

Did realise the price difference was so small. If it added an extra £30 per m2 then it would be around £700 extra in total. Even with large windows it's going to come in above the minimum height for toughened glass now. Is there a big difference between toughened and laminated prices? Can you...
