Change 2 Gang kitchen socket to 4 gang

Hi all. Quick update. I bought the Niglon 2+2+1 and a whole load of 2+2's (minimum order of 5 at 27p each). I installed the it, and glad i went for the 5gang and not 2 x 2 gangs and a 1 gang. It all lines up perfectly. Whilst cutting the recess, luckily I noticed the 2 tail cables which where...

Change 2 Gang kitchen socket to 4 gang

This is brilliant. I was considering dry lining, but thought it may get weak in the middle. My plan is mount a wooden battin to the wall to mount the Niglon DES221 To. I'll just add the whole lot to a ring.

Change 2 Gang kitchen socket to 4 gang

This looks promising. Ive decided to add 3 sockets (a second 2 gang to the ring, and 1 gang as a spur - for other kitchen tools). I've noticed on their site they have a 2+1 too. So the big question: 1. Is it better to have 2 +2 gang then a single one. Or add a 2 + 1 gang. 2. given how old...

Change 2 Gang kitchen socket to 4 gang

I took off the socket below the CU. It's definitely a ring. Quite old, given the red and black wire. I also worked out why the detector didnt pick it up. The back box is set quite deep. Also the wall seems to be made of something really thin. My thinking is, take out one of the connections...

Change 2 Gang kitchen socket to 4 gang

So I think that type was used previously, I think it melted due to the airfreight, kettle and toaster being on at the same time. That's why the need for change is needed. Right now the plugs are continuously switched.

Change 2 Gang kitchen socket to 4 gang

The strange thing i found is, i was checking with a bosch cable finder, and I couldn't find the source anywhere around. P.s. I tested it with other sockets in the kitchen

Change 2 Gang kitchen socket to 4 gang

I checked this the other day, after you mentioned it. There is a kitchen red, that knocks out the 2 kitchen sockets. There is a separate red for the cooker/ microwave sockets.

Change 2 Gang kitchen socket to 4 gang

If I was to do this, is it better to just spur it of the original, or ring it (which would need an extension to the original) with a in line terminal connection. Thanks

Change 2 Gang kitchen socket to 4 gang

Hi all. In a small flat kitchen, there is a corner where all the worktop appliances sit: Air fryer Kettle Toaster Multi cooker. There is currently a 2 gang socket, directly below the consumer unit. Is it possible to swap this to a 4 gang faceplate with back box? More importantly, is it safe...

    Economy 7 and Storage Heaters

Hi All. I have a flat (3 Bedroom, Lounge Kitchen, Bathroom, Hallway) that is currently supplied by Ecnomy 7 electric. There is no gas supply to the proeprty. The primary heating method is via Storage and convection heaters and Hot water on E7. We are a family with young kids, so the property is...

    Garage lighting with no electrics

Hi all. I've seen a very old thread re putting lighting in a garage with no electrics - it's severely out of date. I have a rented garage that sits below some flatlets. I don't live anywhere near the garages. I want to install some lights in there so was thinking of some options: 1. Buy a...

Wall mounting a TV on dot and dab

Haha I did think that. Could make a feature of it, although I think it's his bedroom...and he is a naturist / nudist lol

Wall mounting a TV on dot and dab

To be fair I wouldn't have a clue. All I know is these are built cheap as anything lol. My only regret is, I didn't want to cut through one of the battons for the cladding, so the TV is slightly more off centre than I feel visually happy with.

Wall mounting a TV on dot and dab

Oh I went strait from the plaster board. I cut a gap in the cladding, and fixed the mount between buttons. I think there was around 20 to 25mm from breeze block to surface of the wall. I could swear I felt the drill suddenly being free at the other end lol.

Wall mounting a TV on dot and dab

Hi all done and securely mounted. Thanks! So a few lessons: 1. The 10mm x 95mm mentioned on screwfix website is for the wall plug. Duh! 2. Breeze blocks are only about 100mm. So the 120mm will pop out the other side unless you have a 30mm thick item you are mounting. 3. The screws the corefix...

Wall mounting a TV on dot and dab

Hi all. thanks for the responses. The gap between the breeze blocks and plaster board is small - 27mm from wall to surface of plaster board. Apparently the wall mount comes with lag bolts and plugs lag M8x65mm Corefix seems to be the reccomended. What is the difference between Corefix 120...

Wall mounting a TV on dot and dab

That's probably true. Lol. I just didn't want the tv to the bale that broke the horses back. I haven't got to buying the tv mount as yet as I wanted to work out how to attach one lol. I was hoping for a swivel and tilt mount (not the extend out types). If I am limited then it will have to be a...
