    seperate circuits

I would expect this departure to identified so no-one working on the installation is left in any doubt that power to that room is on two separate boards. maybe marking the sockets from one board as DB1 and the others as DB2 would surfice, but I am no lover of labels, they drop off.

    earthing

The purpose of the green/yellow sleeving is for identification purposes, do you think it should be identified? Regulations require all cables to be adequately identified.

    trunking

Under part P of the building regulations, work in a kitchen is notifiable to Local Area Building Control @ your council. if you plan to carry out the work yourself and you are not able to 'self certify' then you will need to inform LABC before you start work.

    Bonding a power shower

The reason for bonding the lighting to the shower circuit is to lower the cpc resistance (circuits in parrallel) but I have never been convinced the reduction in trip time would be significant.

    moving a socket

You could add another socket as a spur if this socket is on the ring. Otherwise you will need to extend the cable either by adding 2 junction boxes or crimping a new cable onto the old. Use ratchet crimpers if using the second method.

    new consumer unit advice

Are you aware Runci that if you disconnect the old board and have not checked insulation resistances, that the new board with RCD protection might keep tripping. You are then not legally allowed to reconnect the old board. This is why we test before disconnecting. Well some of us do!!!

    Proximity of Electric socket

I understand your concern but there is as much chance of a burst pipe as of the house falling down so there should be nothing to concern you.

    Proximity of Electric socket

None other than common sense. You should consider sighting an outlet in a safer place or blanking it off. Regulations with regard to sinks require 300mm clearance from the lip of the sink. So what do you think!

Anyone seen one of these before

No but I bet there's rubber wiring attatched. Came across some lead sheathed cable made by Pirelli in a listed building recently. The building dated to William III (1697) Those timbers were hard as iron to drill through.
