    Them pics are better, would be a good idea to get a quote on strip and retiling a 1m perimmiter across the eaves and verge, and having a dry verge system such as the one that alastairreid has suggested.

    you mean the bit that is in the gutter? if so then it's fixed by the battens on the roof and should not be fixed to anything externally.

    Not sure about other trades, but my starting labourers get £200 , £250 when they semi skilled and £300 skilled. That is based on a 40ish hour week.

    Whatever you decide don't pay upfront , pay either in stages on certain work completion (i prefer this on big jobs) or pay on completion.
