    Dimmer switches

Hi, just wanted to check what my options are with dimmer switches. We just moved house, and in the previous house we had chandeliers in the bedroom and lounge which used normal candle bulbs. The switches we had were remote & touch timmers - they perfectly suited our lazy lifestyle as we could...

    Replacing an ancient Baxi Bermuda

I don't think he measured it, he just opened a tap and said "yeah, good pressure here "... I'm sure that won't be a problem though, it absolutely gushes out.

    Replacing an ancient Baxi Bermuda

Cheers for the response. The house I'm renting at the moment has a Biasi Riva Compact and I hate it - the showers etc are great, but as soon as you touch any tap (hot or cold) the hot water loses all pressure. Perhaps it's just a crap boiler, but it's put me off the idea of a conventional combi...

    Replacing an ancient Baxi Bermuda

Cheers for the advice guys, the fact that baxi have a boiler product called a megaflo explains my confusion in the first post. Water flow at the house is very good so think an unvented cylinder plus baxi condenser is the way forward. I think the house is too big for a combi to reliably heat...

    Replacing an ancient Baxi Bermuda

Ok, I've been up all night researching the options (actually, I'm supposed to be working a night shift...) and looks like a MegaFlo is another type of boiler, and I want an unvented cylinder What I reckon I need is: Baxi Bermuda HU Fire front Flue =========== All the above = £1600 ish...

    Replacing an ancient Baxi Bermuda

Evening all, I've just moved into a house which has an ancient Baxi Bermuda from the 1970s (which, in fairness, still works perfectly). We're extensively redecorating the house (with assistance from an electrical fire 4 days after we were handed the keys  ) and I thought it would be...

    old fashioned Fuse-boards

All the effin time :( The amount of times my mrs doesn't like the colour of a light fitting is scary....

    old fashioned Fuse-boards

...which is why I want to swap for RCBs? They're more convenient as I don't have to switch the power off to do basic tasks. My intention is to turn the power off one more time - fit RCBs in place of the Fuses and power up. I will need to notify the local Building Regs before doing it...

    old fashioned Fuse-boards

It's not my CU, it's a picture from the hall of shame - My CU looks exactly the same though. Flameport - it's not blowing regularly, I just don't like pulling the switches when doing maintenance (like replacing sockets, switches etc) as you get a fairly sizeable crack and flash when the fuses...

    old fashioned Fuse-boards

Cheers guys :) The house was built circa 1970, looks like the same as this CU from the hall of shame: I can post another photo later if needed though? FYI, these are the MCBs I was going to use:

    old fashioned Fuse-boards

Cheers b-a-s - just check the part P regs, and it says you must notify the Building Control dept for: # New consumer unit Does replacing the individual fuses for MCBs count as installation of a new CU? :?

    old fashioned Fuse-boards

To who? Does that mean a sparky needs to verify the work?

    old fashioned Fuse-boards

Hi all... sorry to drag up an old post, but this page came up in a Google search. I've also got one of the old fashioned Fuse-boards (with actual fuse-wire in the cartridges etc). I currently have 5 circuits - 2 x 5A lighting rings, 2 x 20A mains and 1 x 15A immersion heater (from memory). My...
