Yes the timbers are 4x2, the cables have been put through centrally, so with the plasterboard I think it will be ok.

I know you professional guys would not bother but, I decided to mark out the timbers on the insulation to help with screwing up the plasterboard. It might be useful to some one at some stage.

I have to put 100mm Insulation between the ceiling joist and cover the whole ceiling with 40mm insulation board. Can I glue the 40mm boards to the wooden joists? and if so what would I use?

Hi, the flooring timbers are not fixed to the concrete. They held in place tightly by the insulation board and just sit freely on the concrete base. The flooring grade chipboard has been screwed into them though, so it is all held together and has provided a very solid floor.
