I bet Big-all has one, probably two.

    knife sharpener?

I remember when I was 16 doing engineering at college and the lecturer stated talking about Ba57ard files and I was stood at the back giggling like a little girl. I seem to remember he had a selection of files in front of him and he was naming them, smooth ba57ard, rough ba57ard and ba57ard...

    Makita vs Dewalt accessories kit

They look a bit generic to me, probably Chinise tat with Dewalt/Makita badge on. Been through loads of these kind of cases and the screwdriver bits are rubbish, but I suppose other selected items in the case prove to be useful though.

Unhappy with work done (ceiling repair) - what should I do

Interesting read, just make sure next time you use him to keep a closer eye on him.

Advise me..New Fluidmaster fill valve, letting by..

Ah yes, welcome to the world of garbage cistern inards, as cisterns have shrunk in size over the years the old fashioned syphon and ballvalve are becoming rare. Your inlet valve was in perfect working order so your trip to Homebase was a complete and total waste of time, as you suspected the...

    240v strimmer

We have a Bosch strimmer of some kind and I've modified it to use steel cable instead of the rubbish strimmer cord. Works a treat, just just hit stones or sparks will fly!

    Wall plugs

On the subject of Rawl plugs what are peoples preferences regarding how far they tap the plug into the wall? I tend to insert the plug and then tap it in with the screw more or less as far as it will go. I find I get a better fixing than just having it flush.

    Multi-Tool Advice

I have the proper Fein and the cheaper green Bosch version. The difference between them is huge with the Fein winning hands down on cutting ability and build qaulity. The Bosch feels really light and cheap in comparison and really has to be forced down to cut where the Fein just gluides...

Uni Project. Help and ideas needed please!!!!!!

I think you can go overboard packing all these unnecessary gadgets into a drill increasing the cost and weight. Granted the LED lights are very helpful though. Whats next? a drill that connects to the internet and allows you to veiw Youtube videos when you're screwing a floor down? You'd spend...

    core drill help

I'm very happy with the 1100W Sparky diamond core drill, it takes abuse and is very fast and powerful. It can also be used as a regular drill.

    vacuum recomendations

I have a George and its brilliant, use it to empty a blocked toilet pan brimming over with sewage and then wash it out and clean your carpets with it. Mine gets abused big time and keeps coming back for more.

Green Bosch quality gone right down

Just replaced my old green 450W Bosch jigsaw (12 years old maybe) that had just worn out, I bought the newer model this time and it lasted all of a month of light use before the trigger packed up and when I really needed it aswell. I replaced like for like as I was happy with the old one even...

    Electric Drill Problems!

Basically the lighter the better, I have a couple of 18v Li-ion Makita's and they are so much lighter than my old Dewalt nicad. That said if its a diyer maybe he's not bothered about the weight but it makes it easier for the pro especially if he's screwing up a plasterboard ceiling. Also I...

    who makes b & q pro

mmm...interesting thread but no definate answers. I can confirm Wickes Professional powertools are made by Draper. Don't know about the B&Q but I've seen the 4kg 800W SDS drill under varius different badges like Direct Power and Nutool. My dad bought one and had to swap it after 6 months...

Vauxhall central locking very poor range

Hi guys, first post in this sub forum... 2005 Vauxhall Combo, the remote central locking now only works when I'm either in the van or when I'm stood outside right next to the drivers door with the key pressed against my head (little trick to improve the range). I've replaced the battery...

Tools stolen?, ever got them back?

mmm..... I suppose all you can do is make sure you've got tool cover. I'm so careful where I leave my van even if its just for 20mins. In a carpark for instance I'll either reverse up to a wall or barrier (touching bumper) or park under the cameras. Never park in the centre of a carpark...

Tools stolen?, ever got them back?

Not had mine stolen yet but just wondered what people do to keep theirs safe. Over the years I've amassed quite a selection of powertools, mostly Makita, Dewalt and Bosch and I'm getting worried now that if they were ever stolen I would be totally stuffed. The ones I have to keep in my van...

    Mitre Saws

I have an Evolution Rage, about £165 from Screwfix. No need to spend more really, I normally buy Makita but for the same money I could get the Evo with extra sliding compound feature. Powerful and well built, perfect for skirtings and door frames etc. Only bad point is a spring loaded...

    Core drill vs SDS drill

I have the Sparky core drill and compared to my 2kg Bosch 800w SDS the different is amazing. The drill itself has alot higher RMP but I agree 1st gear or large cores.
