    Vaillent condensate pump

Anyone have any comments on the Vaillant eco level condensate pump. I thought they looked quite funky but the instal pdf's show the usual discharge hose into the unit which I reckon looks a bit unsightly. I thought it was an integral unit rather like the programmers etc. Would a general...

    Water Softener Best Advise

Thanks guys. I think i'll put the pros and cons as explained and let them decide although the main occupier is quite elderly so a bigger unit would, i feel, be in their interest as far as replenishment of salt goes Regards.

    Water Softener Best Advise

Just a thought. Could anyone explain the differences between twin and single tank units (apart from the obvious) I was thinking along the lines of efficiency, advantages etc. Cheers

    Water Softener Best Advise

Been asked to fit a water softener to replace a previously removed unit. Haven't seen the instal but it's been a while since i fitted any. What do i need to look out for generally. Is there any sizing requirements. It's a standard 3 bed semi. Any advice appreciated Regards Steve

    vent in storage tank

need some advise on a existing vent to a replacement mws tank. A new grp tank erected to replace an old braithwate. The fitters have said that they cant terminate the existing 65mm vent in the tank It has to go to a tundish then to outside. They have advised us that it comes under the new...

    Chlorination of mws tank

Anyone know of any low-cost kits available to chlorinate, neutralise and test water after cleaning. Have a mws tank requiring cleaning and dont want to get involved with the storage or disposal of huge quantities. Dont have the call for it and dont think it's fair to pass on the costs for large...

    mnm shower pump

Anyone know if mnm still produce shower pumps. Went to one today. buried in the floor and neatly tiled around. Talked about re-siting etc but the guy wants it where it is so who am i to argue, should come out but want to 'slot' the new one back in place. Need to start taking pictures, it was a...

    'Stuff' in Storage Tank.

Thanks guys, another mystery solved. Got in touch and they had had a softener. Been in touch with a water treatment company and they ran thru it and explained it exactly as you did onestop. Got to go back and chlorinate their system now as they aren't too happy with having it in their system. i...

    'Stuff' in Storage Tank.

Onetap, how would the resin get into the mws tank, over dosing you reckon? I checked out the link and it does look like the stuff. I dont remember seeing a softener on site but could be in the garage and i'm sure they would have mentioned it. It may have been removed of course. It doesn't...

    'Stuff' in Storage Tank.

Thanks John Thanks Nige, I reckon I got most of the stuff out but i'll advise them to go for a flush thru and chlorination as a test will be inconclusive without costing loads and monitor the situation. The customer has complained of skin complaints in the past but as she said it may well be a...

    'Stuff' in Storage Tank.

It doesn't appear to be rust. It's too orange and doesn't crumble. It's a strange looking stuff it's similar in appearence to roe eggs only smaller. The customer lives in Kent which I believe is primarily chalk based. Come across some stuff in tanks in my time but this is a new one on me. :?

    'Stuff' in Storage Tank.

Recently worked on a mains storage tank and came across some strange sediment coating the bottom. I wondered if anyone has come across the same as i never have. It is bright orange in colour and is like a silica gel in composition. There was a couple of bucket loads of the stuff. I cleaned out...

out of plumb wall and shower screen

3 feet :o . You sure? Thats a fair bit of silicone. Has it cured yet :lol:I think though thats about the best option i have to TBH.I always find beading up showers and baths a bit hit and miss. Got about 15mm to fill and i'm worried it's gonna end up looking like an ice sculpture. Hey ho. Whats...

out of plumb wall and shower screen

Thanks Chukka, i forgot to mention it's a curved bath and screen but you have given me some food for thought. I could look at placing a small 'fillet' of something to pack it out and take up the gap. Possibly some upvc batten or the like as other posts have suggested. Bit of a pain though and...

out of plumb wall and shower screen

Have to fit an over bath shower screen and the customer supplied one (B&Q) has a maximum of 10mm play between the wall plate and screen. The wall is so out of plumb that a gap of 15mm is between the two. Anyone know of a manufacturer who do screens with a greater range of adjustment. I have...

    neg head pump advise

Thanks cozzmic. I've seen the sally and it does seem a good pump. I think it's the one that 'adjusts' to posi/neg pressures. Trouble is the cost. I can get a twin pump for about £150/70 and with the Bristan kit another £30 and save a bit. i think the cpv goes at about £300. The cost is a factor...

    neg head pump advise

Not really advise needed on install as i definately have a negative head situation so need a negative head pump but need to do it as cheap as poss for my son and new baby. I understand Bristan do a neg head kit which is basically a pull cord. My question is are they any good. I'm thinking of...
