    No flow through rads

No. But I expect that if I went to a forum on quantum physics, responses would be more informative.

At last, the first positive contribution. Thanks.

    No flow through rads

I asked a specific question about 3pvs. Have you got anything to contribute or are you just intentionally wasting bandwidth? (Why is that everytime someone posts something on this forum it starts an inquisition? It's only a central heating system, not quantum physics.)

    No flow through rads

Yes, I did say that we had good flow through each radiator once we realised they are directional and that they are the right way round. Do they need a minimum pressure to operate?

    Home Automation - Heating

My solution might be a bit over the top for 18 devices but I recently realised there is a very simple way of controlling mains devices. Obviously opto couplers would give the necessary isolation but the mains side circuitry is fairly awkward. I do not need microsecond response times and wanted...

    No flow through rads

Indeed. There is no flow through the rads. There can only be a finite number of avenues to go down. You don't need to guess a solution. I am looking for possibilities. (And if you insist, I can prove the boiler is not part of the problem.) Oh, by the way, if an auto bypass (it isn't)...

    No flow through rads

My daughters ch has been lacking output for some time. On first inspection the boiler return was taking along time to warm up. Although the pump was making all the right noises we speculatively changed it. No difference. So we then flushed the system with mains water. After putting it all...

    Flush doesn't shut off

The plot thickens. I had just bought a Fluidmaster flush and took the wood work away from around the cistern expecting to see the pipe between bowl and cistern connect with a threaded adaptor. Instead the pipe is connected directly to a flange moulded in the cistern...

    Flush doesn't shut off

Thanks. At least that's identified someone else that's seen something similar. Given that I have seen it in two different places (though at least the other one would reset with the button) I am suprised it is not more familiar.

    Flush doesn't shut off

The only consolation to that is that it less than the amount my mother paid when it was replaced two years ago:( I can do the job. What I want is an understanding of possible cause so I won't have to do it again in two years time. Since the problem occurs intermittantly, seal failure or fixed...

    Flush doesn't shut off

I don't know the make. What would cause the seat to be intermittant? (If a loose foreign body happens to get lodged it would be expected to dislodge with further operation.) Interestingly, looking round the shed websites, air operated types don't appear to be fashionable any more...

    Flush doesn't shut off

No but is it relevant when the outflow is preventing the cistern from filling?

    Flush doesn't shut off

I am trying to identify a problem with a pneumatic flush mechanism that doesn't always shut the flow off properly after flushing When this happens the inflow is not fast enough to fill the cistern so it is not possible to flush again without having a fiddle with it to persuade it to close enough...

    Bosch dishwasher (rant)

Our dishwasher recently stopped working because it wouldn't fill. The tray was flooded and so the flood switch had tripped. I cleaned the gunge out of the pipework around the level & flood switches and took the water out of the tray. It worked again for a while but it was still filling up...

Boiler comes on for 5 mins then turns off - then comes back

A duff pump would likely cause a Baxi Solo overheat to trip.

Boiler comes on for 5 mins then turns off - then comes back

The boiler can produce more heat than the radiators can dissipate, it has to regularly shut down. If your radiators have TRVs and any are cold, the TRVs may be stuck. Take the heads off and carefully pull the pins up with pliers. If radiators are properly hot the only thing to do is fit...

    Managing boiler settings

What boiler have you got? At the moment I am monitoring my boiler (a Baxi Solo) to see what tweaks I can make. I have two boxes each with two probes for recording temperature, one on the boiler and another that I move round the radiators. I find the 3 minute cycles very annoying too but it...

baxi solo 2 pf hot hot hot

Presumably it would be possible to configure a system without a valve or controls apart from TRVs and clock. The cylinder just connected in like another radiator.

baxi solo 2 pf hot hot hot

Hard luck. A bad choice I made several years ago. It would be a good idea to fit a thermostat even when the boiler is behaving as it cuts demand, otherwise the boiler just uselessly keeps the circulating water hot. If the boiler is misbehaving, then it will at least cut out before things get...
