    Retain Coving and skimming or replaster old walls?

    dann thanks for your post. The walls all have horrible paper stuck to the old plaster and when we have tried to take off the paper it took off the plaster as well. The coving is the only feature we would like to keep but to achieve this they will need to simply skim the current walls.

    What about the current cement between the brick, thats the biggest problem. They can replaster but they said guaranteed within 1-2 years cracks will reappear. Is there anythig I can advise the builder to make the current old brick work stronger?

    Is there much difference between the 2? I have been quoted an extension based on yellow brick and been advised it will be fine to use and will look good as well. I know most builds are with red bricks so what would be the real reason behind the red brick?
