    Gas stove and liners?

We've had a similar installation and I did quite a lot of research regarding liners. All of the working flues in our mid-victorian house have been smoke test 1 tested and all passed A1. However I would totally recommend fitting a liner and of course co2 monitors. For the sake of a couple of...

    Albitec Fittings

I have been given an Albion cylinder which has a notice that says that the 1" Male Primary fittings are compatible with ALBITEC FITTINGS but I'm not sure what these are. Please can someone point me in the right direction. The indirect cylinder will be used in conjunction with an old...

    Well that worked out well!

Isn't it ironic that they, along with the Christians all worship the same god. Think of all the atrocities, murder and rape that has been carried out in the god of Abrahams name.

    Well that worked out well!

They say that the abused become the abusers. I heard a senior female Israeli politician say in regards to the population of Gaza 'they are all terrorists', to be fair to the jews every time they kill and maim women, children and old men they are probably causing all who witness the massacre...

    Bizarre Central Heating!!

If it's definitely an aga then you'll find that as they only provide hot water the usual set up is the hot water tank supplemented by an immersion heater for the summer months. Any central heating is usually on a separate system.

    Rayburn solid-fuel Boiler. Cylinder ?

Only thinking about this but please can someone tell me if the hot-water cylinder for a Rayburn needs to be vented or unvented? I was under the impression that the excess pressure vent was in the pipework but been told it must be on the tank, is this correct? Thanks

    Combi-boiler on internal wall

I know to my cost not to trust builders. The boiler is new, fitted last year under the 'free' nest scheme so any work shall probably need to be carried out by British Gas anyway,

    Combi-boiler on internal wall

We have an Ideal logic combi 35 boiler fitted to an external wall. For cost reasons we are looking to deviate from the approved extension plans we already have approved & a couple of builders say the boiler can remain in place as it already has a flu extension going up the current external...

use of emulsion in Victorian houses

Before you go buying any 'special' paints &. as footprints has already mentioned, you should positively determine the cause of your damp. If the gold mural is impermeable then any moisture is not coming through but probably condensation. We had to remove an oil based gloss from one of our...

Neighbour's Kitchen Vent Extracting Over Boundary

So does your extractor also vent next to your front door and across your property? I once had a similar problem and contacted the council who sent an environmental health officer out to investigate the 'noxious smell'. He sorted it out but I never spoke to the neighbour again.

    Well that worked out well!

know. I remember him saying it and thinking, "Yes, I think you're right," yet the PC do-gooders were calling him all the names under the sun. Time has proved him to be perfectly correct: race riots in more than one city, yet people are still denying the accuracy of his predictions. I have...

Boxing in brown soil pipe, anything to avoid?

Thanks muggles, I know about brown for underground and grey for above but my (ex) builder reconed that as it's being boxed in it will be OK which I guess is true.

Boxing in brown soil pipe, anything to avoid?

As the question, we have an internal vertical run of brown soil pipe that needs to be boxed in & soundproofed. Is there anything where contact with the 'plastic' will cause problems? The reason for my question is our loft renovation revealed a lot of polystyrene in contact with ring main...

    Well that worked out well!

The most ironic thing about all this is OIL, at the moment Iraqs oil is mainly in a 'safe' Shia area, the ISIS terrorists are Sunnis whose main power base is Saudi whereas Iraq are Shia. OH yes the rebels in Syria are ISIS whereas Bashaar Al-Assad is aligned with Iran. Everyone who knows the...

    Can you add a hot-water tank to a Combi-system?

Sorry for being dim but I'm not too sure what that means. Is it that 1 rad must run directly from the boiler without a TRV ?

    Can you add a hot-water tank to a Combi-system?

I've spotted a house that has solar-hot water & know that they had a new boiler under the 'Nest' scheme at the same time we did so guess they managed somehow. To be honest the hot water isn't a priority it would just be a by-product of the big cast-iron lump whose main raison d'etre is to...

One third of Britons admit being racially prejudiced

. With Halal meat the beast is not stunned ie. fully conscious & prayers honouring the sacrifice are said during the slaughter, whereas the non- halal method involves stunning (usually in the case of the larger animals) before being bled-out. Coming from an agricultural background I am...

One third of Britons admit being racially prejudiced

I was not talking about the very many incomers who come to live either here or any of the other European country but those who make no effort at all to integrate or even respect their adopted countries rules. Here in Wales we had to fight for the right for our 'British' Language of Welsh to be...
