What should be the thickness of the glue to stick down the Ditra 25 and generally how thick should tile adhesive be? Trying to understand by FFL height in addition to the tile height.

    What cable

I need to use some form of heat resistant cable to connect a fan connection kit for a wood burning stove to a spur socket to switch it on/off. What sort of cable should I use? The cable will probably get hot and go under the stove and then out and between the plasterboard dabbed onto the block...

Ditra mats on a newly installed screeded floor

I'm assuming it must have really low u values otherwise it would just be another barrier to heat coming through from the screeded floor? Do the majority of builders always install this i.e. its not just a gimmick then? Seems quite expensive at about £220 odd per 30m2 roll.

    Polypipe underfloor heating

Hi - new to this and in the same dilemma. We have about 80m2 of flooring to tile, screeding was done 5 months ago. I wasn't budgeting for this extra cost - is it really recommended to go for the Ditra mat? I've been quoted £220 as the cheapest price for a 30m2 roll. What sort of adhesive do...

Ditra mats on a newly installed screeded floor

Does anyone recommend the use of a Ditra mat for a screeded floor with wet under floor heating? What is the purpose of this mat and is it an unnecessary expense? Also does it lay straight down on top of the floor or need gluing down? If the latter how many mm should the glue be?

Size of copper pipe for replacement gas hob

We have a ceramic electric hob and are looking to add a two burner gas hob (possibly a wok burner) to our kitchen. I wont be doing this myself but just interested in the reply to be "in the know". If that gas pipe is not feeding any other gas appliance, would a 15mm copper pipe be more than...

Size of electric cable for kitchen induction hob

Hi What I meant was, as a general concept, is it ok for any electrical cable to be placed under 100mm Celotex/Kingspan insulation board. The compressive forces of the screed, tiles etc and underfloor heating pipes won't damage it? Our existing ceramic hob I know is on its own circuit so I'm...

Size of electric cable for kitchen induction hob

Thanks for the quick reply. Just for my lay understanding of circuit designs etc, is it normal for kitchen appliances like oven etc to be wired to their own circuit outside of the kitchen ring main? Also when installing wet underfloor heating, is considered acceptable to have the cable laid...

Size of electric cable for kitchen induction hob

We are thinking of ordering a new induction hob for our existing kitchen. The manufacturer's web site states that it is 11kw power usage. I would like to know if our existing electrical cable (which is not on the same ring circuit as the rest of the kitchen sockets) will be capable of taking...
