    strange shower electrics problem

Thats right mate, 7.5kW is your maximum you should have on it. Speak to your landlord and get a sparks in to see what you can have! As I said before if it has an ECO option, turn it to that until you have it sorted.

    strange shower electrics problem

I was assuming that the shower had just been in use when the MCB tripped? Or a few minutes after? A sparks will be able to test the cable to let you know if you have another sort of fault. Have recently adjusted the power on the shower?

    strange shower electrics problem

If you have now installed a 10.5kW shower (although you put it in a year ago), this will need upgrading to a 40A mcb. However this can only be done if the cable supplying the shower is big enough. It's probably best to get a sparks to come out and have a look. Has the shower got an ECO setting...

    strange shower electrics problem

Just to clarify, is it definatly a B32 'RCD'? Does it have a test switch button on it with 30mA written on it somewhere? Or is it a B32 MCB?

    Schedules of Inspections. Clarity

Yes, that is how I interpret it anyways. People often make the mistake of marking on the test schedule under ADS that supplementary bonding is present and satisfactory, but that is not the case.

Advice on maximum demand and diversity on a domestic

Yes riveralt, i did think about that! As you say most consumer units are 100A, but i reckon most consumers demands are actually higher than the 100A in theory. Can common sense be used here then, to say although in theory MD is 174A, the chances of it ever rising near to that for prolonged...

Advice on maximum demand and diversity on a domestic

So Bernard, are you saying with the additional 11.8kW load for the hob and oven taking the MD upto something more like 174A, in reality the chances of these items all being used at the same time for a prolonged period (as 100A main fuse will take more amps for a short period), I should be able...

    Schedules of Inspections. Clarity

This is purely a CPC. Under ADS, supplementary bonding is as I described. Have a read of 411.3.2.6. So under ADS your 'presence of supplementary bonding conductors' would be marked N/A. However the pigtails linking the enclosures, would be classed as supplementary bonding under 'Additional...

    Schedules of Inspections. Clarity

As Spark123 I think it would apply more in a commercial/industrial circumstance, where say you cannot meet disconnection times, and it is not viable to install an RCD or an additional earth. For example a feed to a big tarmac plant. You are then allowed to bond all metal work at the end of the...

Newbie saying hello and after abit of advice

Thanks guys for your input. The test equipment won't be a problem as I have all the equipment needed as I need it for installs at work and for fault finding, all calibrated yearly. I'll have no qualms of testing and recording the results onto a test schedule and giving it to them as part of the...

Newbie saying hello and after abit of advice

Well there won't be routes to 'close up' as such as it is a wooden styled chalet/bungalow, so the runs will be in the loft and just dropped down to accessories behind the plasterboard. The bungalow housed workers from a factory nearby before they bought it and the wiring is a mess currently. The...
