    Cutting a groove in Celotex insulation

    Ceoltex is one of the easiet things to cut,ive seen it done with a hand saw,and amongst other things an electric bread/meat knife! I'd use a hand saw and use a staright edge obviously,cut down the required depth and use say a chisel or scraper to take the groove out,it comes out surprisingly easy

    using lime in cement mix

    The worst bit used to be cleaning all the bricks for re-use. The mixer used to be like a big cake mixer,and it stayed useable for ages! :-)

    Removing chimney stack

    I think the venting thing depends if the chimney is on an external wall or internal.I'd certainly consider capping with either an brick or something in it-it'll stop any crap falling down the flue and ending up in your fireplace. If the chimney is on extarnal wall and you dont use the...

    How the hell can I remove this??

    imo,ur better to use a breaker like noseall sugested,a grinder will make that much dust u wont be able to see what you're doing. These things are SO heavy,ur better breaking it into pieces,it shouldnt fall out as im guessing its reinforced looking at the size of it

    using lime in cement mix

    I'd go for 5:1:1,which will probably start a debate on its own :-) As for lime setting-whn i did my apprenticeship,we used to use lime mortar at college,when you had finished building your project you would knock it down and the mortar would be remixed for use again

    Party Wall Act & scaffolding in neighbour garden

    Why dont you ask your build if he can do the brickwork "overhand", not ideal, but it might make the situation with your neighbour a bit easier? Just a thought.....

    Plaster boarding a RSJ & Catnic lintels.

    There are different ways of doing it depending(in my opinion) the overall thickness of the beams appearance i.e if its to finish flush with an existing wall as mentioned earlier. Once the rsj is nogged out then you can fix plasterboard to it and let it hang past the rsj so you could fix say a...
