    trition t80si

Is it a new shower or has it justy started to fail? Its probably fine, the hotter you select the water to be, the slower it will come out, selecting a very high temperature will limit the flow to a slow trickle on most electric showers.

    Electric oven - trips RCD

If the worst came to the worst surely you can replace the element, this would be cheaper than a new cooker. The elements can be had for £20-£30.

    fan extraction rate for ensuite

On a recent rewire (Scotland) the drawings stated 30l/s for WC's so I presume thats the norm.

    Wiring halogens to existing mains

Can you get near the connections and take some pics? I doubt it would need rewired if it has originally been wired in Twin & Earth, but thats a total guess without seeing the installation. The taped up joints are a bit rough but not doing any harm. £120 for LED's seems a lot of money but if...

    Replacing thermostat.

Hi, I was looking to replace a 2 wire thermostat to a drayton easy 3s programmable stat. Below is the wiring guide, was wondering if someone could advise me on the connections. The L&N supply won't be a problem, its more the 2core coming from the boiler. Wiring diagram:- Existing...

mains smoke alarm wiring help please

White's always been the interlink connection on the ones I've done. If you know blacks N, one would assume red is L. Not a good idea to assume things though

    PIR light only on constant

As above really, you could turn the settings down to minimum/test mode to save you waiting and ensure its on detection mode. Failing that the fittings probably had it, 8 quid and the winter we've had its probably no surprise

Sony LCD going nuts - much like me!

Are you 100% sure its the TV, does your power trip when TV is off? It could be another appliance is at fault and your tv is enough to take it over the (presumed)30ma current. Does it still trip when it is JUST the tv plugged in to your sockets.

    Here's an idea.....

It does get quite tedious hearing it on every other reply posted, what about a pop up when Electrics UK is selected on the forum menu and user has to "agree" to reading the Part P info.

Similar to you, I tend to cut most of the back out of the single fastafix boxes.

    Led stair lights

If the garage is through the wall drilling a hole right through (the size of the fitting) may be an option, the smaller LED decking lights will possibly be easier to fit and tbh may look better than a bulky fitting. If you were going down this route I'd be tempted to cut a square out where you...

    Led stair lights

It'll be a nightmare channelling the brick and then replastering, thats presuming the bricks deep enough. Is both sides brick? if one side is plasterboard/stud you may get away with putting them in there. Failing that is on the actual step an option, could be a can of worms stripping down the...
