Electric Radiators V LPG central heating.

Thanks for all the advice; the property is a conversion from a stable and insulation will be as current spec required. I am just concerned that the cost of the LPG central heating install over that of the electric. It would be good to find out ( I will check the link to the energy saving...

Electric Radiators V LPG central heating.

Can I ask some advice I am in the process of converting a building into a granny Annexe and am undecided on what to go for. we are not on mains gas and only have LPG. I like the idea of the electric rads as can fit myself no expensive boiler fitting and engineers. I have seen various...

    Replacing grundfos pump

I have now had a go at balancing the rads and all feels great. I could not get hold of a thermometer. Well managed a small digital one that was rubbish so decided to open all rads both ends and close down and open one end 1/4 turn. With some tweaking I now have every rad at about the same...

    Replacing grundfos pump

I am unsure how these pumps work but is it as simple that the settings 1,2,3 refer to the water pumped through and does that make a setting of two hotter at the rads. ?

    advice on garden switch

Thanks for the reply; Yes it's a correct outdoor pond pump, it can be used as a submersible one or an inline one depending on what you want to use it for. As I will only use it to empty the pond I want to use this as an inline one. The pond is a small one 6ft X 4ft and will be upgraded...

    Bridge in damp course

They all look the same to me, they have been painted over. Would i need to dig out some of the mortar to find the DPC ? I know the difference between engineering bricks and normal ones so beleive i would see the DPC if obvious. Cliff

    Bridge in damp course

Thanks Woody, I have looked at the side of the house with no render on it and I can not tell where the DPC is. Do you have any tips on what i should be looking for, It was built in the 1920's so would it be slate ? Cliff

    Bridge in damp course

We have had a survey done and told our dpc is bridged by render on the outside wall installed by previous owner. I have been advised to cut a channel in this. My question how do I know the height on the dpc or is it just a case of cut a big area out and expect it to be within that ? Hope that...

converting a stable and the associated electrics

I would gladly do it without planning but was told it should not be a problem no neighbours have objected and the parish council have not responded. So fingers crossed it will sail through.

converting a stable and the associated electrics

The council officer who came around to photograph it mentioned this to my son ( who was the only one in, he is 21 but didnt take any notes ). It would only be exempt if we had no serivces. Water , gas , electric and drains. I take it if we leave that lot out it's still a stable.
