Pitched Roof Leaking Help do we need a new roof?

I only just saw this reply and I wonder if this is the key? Since last posting 2 months ago, I've got a roof ladder and have been up there with my hosepipe trying to figure out where the leak is. The problem is it can take up to 5 minutes of water before any leak shows itself so its difficult...

Remove radiator can't pull valve off

I'm trying to remove a radiator but both the TRV and lockshield valves are proving almost impossible to pull away from the rad so that I can lift it off. The flow and return pipes rise up vertically and connect to standard right-anled valves into both sides of the bottom of the radiator.The...

    Gas Fire Removal

In my view, the above is a stark lesson to all homeowners to ensure the gas safe engineer they use has a full order book from a base of satisfied customers and doesn't need to fish for work !

Pitched Roof Leaking Help do we need a new roof?

Ok looks like I'll need to get a pro in. Just hope he doesn't say I need a new roof :( Regarding the pictures, I did it via links since I can get a bigger picture that way. Its actually more work for me but just thought it would be clearer. I'll know better next time.

Pitched Roof Leaking Help do we need a new roof?

Can anyone help? How can I find where the water is coming in? :(

Pitched Roof Leaking Help do we need a new roof?

Many thanks for the replies. I (maybe mistakenly) tarred up the bottom the valley and around some surrounding tiles. The roof is lined with black felt like stuff and I'm thinking maybe the water gets past the tiles somewhere, then drips onto the felt which channels the water to the lead...

Pitched Roof Leaking Help do we need a new roof?

HI I'd be v grateful if someone could give me some guidance here. We've got a leak that I really am struggling to trace despite having easy access to the roof and a hand hosepipe. Basically it started as a leak onto a soffit which then directed the water back inside the house above a...

Compression fitting. Pipe not pushed home into fitting

So about a month ago I had to redo some pipework around the HW tank. I made a stupid mistake of cutting one of the pipes too close to an ancient tank connector that I don't want to touch. So there is was just enough of the 22mm pipe coming out of the tank connector to allow me to push a...

    Replacing wheelhead valves with TRVs

Removing the old tails for a 30-40 yr old radiator isn't easy though!

    Replacing wheelhead valves with TRVs

Thanks again for all replies. I'm really down about this atm. Drained down the system this morning and still no heating or hot water due to buying a shed load of valves and non of them fitting very well. It turned out that the TRV from toolstation fits well but given all the manual valves are...

    Replacing wheelhead valves with TRVs

Would there be a risk of drilling through the main flow or return pipe below the floorboard or moving the pipe and so causing a leak at the joint where it meets the main pipe below floorboard?

    Replacing wheelhead valves with TRVs

Thanks a lot for the replies. I've got 3 images: This one shows the trv with all the parts on the left and on the right is a new lockshield/wheelhead valve that I know for sure fits the radiator because I've fitted this before to other rads in the house...

    Replacing wheelhead valves with TRVs

I'm hoping to replace existing old-style lockshield/wheelhead valves with TRVs. Just got a sample cheap TRV from toolstaion (link below) and the distance between valve and radiator is several cm wider than existing traditional valves. So are most TRvs not a direct replacement for existing...

    Valve above pump

Yes I removed the HW actuator temporarily (and left it open) because the extender was dripping on it! If I closed both motorized valves I guess I'd still need to close the top gatevalve to remove the extender and fit a new washer. To be honest, I'm thinking about replacing the whole stack...

    Valve above pump

Thanks a lot Micky. Why would you sasy use rubber and not fibre?

    Valve above pump

Thanks a lot for the replies. To clarify, it is the piece that is inbetween the pump and the top gate valve. Seems odd to me why a fixed size extender would be of any use? Surely an engineer would find pipe more useful as it can be cut to size although I guess that would mean using a 28mm...

    Valve above pump

Hi I wonder if anyone could tell me what the valve is that is located directly above the blue pump in the pic I just took? The pump is pumping downwards. Even better if someone could tell me what I should replace it with? Its on 28mm pipe...

    Extension Ladder Duty Ratings

Is it really a dumb question (even if asked a while ago) ? Any advice on this ? Finally now getting round to buying a ladder.
