moving electric meter & fuse boxes ~1 meter. Old lead ca

If necessary couldn't they leave the armored cable below the floor? I don't see why it's such a big job.

moving electric meter & fuse boxes ~1 meter. Old lead ca

Other than the meter, and its stiff armored cable, surely you just (I'm going to get flamed for this..) drop everything below the floor, see if it reaches (wires), and if it does, raise it back up in the required position? I mean with floorboards removed of course. Anything that doesn't reach...

moving electric meter & fuse boxes ~1 meter. Old lead ca

The gas meter is at the end. If it stays, I only need to build a tiny little enclosure for it. All the electric stuff requires me to build an enclosure the length of the wall. From the customers (my) point of view, it makes perfect sense to move the stuff into the "cupboard of joy". With...

moving electric meter & fuse boxes ~1 meter. Old lead ca

Thanks. The lead cable that I mention, is the black tar/tape-wrapped feed from outside. I think I read that it's lead. Am I correct?

moving electric meter & fuse boxes ~1 meter. Old lead ca

Picture: Before I fit my flooring, I think it would be a good idea to move these meters and fuse boxes into the little cupboard to the right. I will leave the gas meter where it is since it looks difficult to move. Can I expect to get this done cheap? I read on here that the old style lead...

bad plaster / plasterboard on underside of stairs and walls

I took down my under stairs cupboard to allow for the wood flooring I've ordered. I also stripped the super fresco wallpaper in part of the hall and under stairs too. The plaster isn't looking so good, but i think I could possibly use some polyfilla plaster repair on it. I want to paint the...

Solid oak flooring on to floorboards.

OK, I think it needs to be nailed. Those secret nailers are a couple of hundred quid though. Can I get away with just doing it by hand, with a punch? Or should I look at hiring a manual nailer ? How many/frequently/far apart should I nail it? Also, I am going to use my Bosch...

Solid oak flooring on to floorboards.

This looks informative: http://www.britishhardwoods.co.uk/fitting.php any opinions on that? What's "building paper"?

Solid oak flooring on to floorboards.

I just ordered some solid oak flooring for my small hallway. which currently has cheap laminate on it. The hallway is only about 2.5m x 1.8m. It has floorboards, with a ~40cm cavity below. I am intending to lay under the skirting boards. Should I secret-nail into the floorboards, or...

    Vokera Linea 24 filling-loop leak.

Can you give me some tips for replacing the non return valve? The panel through which the pipes go, seems to be in the way. I can't just rotate the non return valve. At first glance it doesn't appear straightforward.. (panel circled below)

    Vokera Linea 24 filling-loop leak.

Thanks. I have just obtained the servicing instructions and will get myself a bit more clued up before delving into the diverter valve.

    Vokera Linea 24 filling-loop leak.

Thank you. I have already ordered a new non return valve now so I might as well swap it. £22 though! I ordered a new PRV as well since I heard they basically fail as soon as they're utilised. I also ordered the T0063 service kit which I hope will fix the diverter problem.

    Vokera Linea 24 filling-loop leak.

I guess that thing to the right of the circled bit, with the arrow pointing up on it, is a 1-way valve, which is failing. Right?

    Vokera Linea 24 filling-loop leak.

By the way, is this the Pressure Relief Valve that I heard about? The bicycle pump connection? (circled in red)? :

    Vokera Linea 24 filling-loop leak.

Hi. video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XT8SvC-q50M The filling loop was left connected when I bought the house. The instructions say to remove it after filling. If I remove it, then water (hot) leaks out of the boiler. The caps don't have any o-rings in them or anything, and so...

Phenomenal gas usage from Vokera Linea boiler ?

I used 290 units in the 39 days, so I'm afraid the charges are correct. I need to fix the boiler. I stopped it cycling on/off last night, and this morning it has failed due to pressure loss. It only loses pressure when not fired-up for a number of hours which is why I had it cycling on for...

Phenomenal gas usage from Vokera Linea boiler ?

Except.. I have apparently used about 300 "units". You maybe on to something here. Their online system would not let me enter my gas meter reading, so I had to ring them. The previous bill they had sent me was an estimate, and it was underestimated to about a third of what it should be...

Phenomenal gas usage from Vokera Linea boiler ?

so, by the sound of it, using hot water is very expensive. I have quite quite a few baths and showers lately, and when I am having a bath, it takes quite some time to fill. I guess this will cost a bomb? :(

Phenomenal gas usage from Vokera Linea boiler ?

As said above, during the testing in that video I was running hot water, so it appears to be running about right. I'm just not sure how I can be using so much gas. I have the boiler on a timer cycling on/off, with an average overall of 1/3rd on and 2/3rd off, i.e. 8hrs on per 24hrs. I have now...
