RMS - you thought about your local library? Mine has a copy of the Regs and a relatively cheap photocopy facility.

    rcd and earth loop test.

Agree there shouldn't be a problem, since EFLI and RCD only affect the circuit being tested. Any sockets that can supply accessories that can be used outdoors should be RCD protected - generally this means at least your sockets downstairs.

    Lead Waste Pipe for Bath

Hi guys - me again, in need of your help please. Renovating a terraced house. Ripped out the steel bath, to find that the waste is lead pipe. Unfortunately the pipe runs through a gable end pitched roof, and thence to a hopper, so it's a bit involved to simply rip out the lead pipe and...

    Mosaic Floor Tiles

Thanks Breezer. My concern is whether the tiles can support the pan - your answer indicates that they can. Flexi-connectors will handle the change in height. Thanks again...

To strip or not To Strip

Potentially dumb question, so apologies..... Ma in law got me to lay some 15inch stone tiles on her kitchen floor. Idiot here made a good enough job of it to encourage her to buy more for the bathroom and hall (this is a bungalow). Hall is currently carpeted, so I've tiled up to the carpet...

    Installation Tester (16th Edition)

One of the lads on my 2391 course did an apprenticeship, which included either 2330 or 2360, but either ways he didn't have to do a 2381. Worth checking with your lecturer !

Nice one Adam - good answer since I just bought one on Ebay ! Good luck with the 2381 - I found it OK, just a case of knowing where stuff is in the book. Got my 2391 exam in 3 weeks......

    Recommended books, standards etc.

I'm in a similar situation to you pcboffinuk. I took my lead from the word "statutory" and got a copy of the Electricity At Work Regulations (1989 I think), which is easily findable and freely available on the web. I found Brian Scaddan to be useful as an author, though he tends to get quite...
