    Non-stopping leaf blower

Thanks for the suggestions. Tried to see where the wires go, but it needs more disassembly to find the other ends. Fortunately, Screwfix have a 1 year warranty and that expires on Nov 13! Unfortunately, they do not have the same Titan in stock until January but are offering me an 'upgrade'...

2 year old Trojancast bath panel turned yellow

Although this thread is around one month old, I sympathize. I have an Ideal Standard bath with a £70 (ten years ago) vac. formed panel. The bath is around 10 feet from the window, which is more or less, north (ish0 facing. But the panel is definitely yellowing with a nice paler shade where we...

    Non-stopping leaf blower

What ho one and all, I have a Titan (Screwfix) leaf blower that does what it says on the box, until a few days ago, when the 'Stop' switch decided not to work. The only way to stop it is to turn the choke to the start position! Titan kindly sent me a replacement switch, but that is not the...

    Fibre Broadband Installation

Sorry, should have provided full details. The gigbit voucher scheme will fund Openreach install FTTH for those that sign up, assuming sufficient do sign up to cover the fibre installation cost, which has been quoted as around £23k

    Fibre Broadband Installation

What ho one and all, Not sure if this is the correct section but since telephones are part of the deal, ......! I live in a private road and currently the phone lines run in an underground conduit, popping above ground to the individual houses via a telephone pole and overhead cable, with the...

    Hydrogen Peroxide

What ho one and all, It was recently suggested to me, that 3% hydrogen peroxide is very good for cleaning toothbrushes and de-germing all sorts of things. Can't find any 3% so bought 6% and diluted to soak the tooth brushes. When i emptied the mug of cleaning solution into the wash basin, I...

Monitoring cracks in an old building

X years ago, we had some cracks on our first floor maisonette. Transpired it was caused by the neighbouring very tall Cyprus trees being too close to the building. The entry porch was kinds hanging on by the grace of God. However, the insurers monitored the cracking after the trees had been...

    Electric motor smoking

Many thanks. You are probably correct regarding the capacitor. Rookie mistake! Cleaned it up and tried again, but since it blew the fuse, take it to the 'recycle' centre. Can't be bothered to waste more time on it. Such is the consumer world in which we live.

    Electric motor smoking

What ho one and all, I have an electric (drum type) garden shredder that recently stopped working. Found the problem was the starting capacitor, which was been replaced and it almost works again. Almost, because the forward / reverse switch does not always send the drum rotating in the...

    Tamper Fault Lockout (again!)

Just a heads-up and thank you for the advice. Took the tamper fault RKP off-line and the fault did not reappear on the front door RKP. So have figured out a way to tightly 'hold the front to the back which has for the past 24 hrs, not produced a temper fault. Using epoxy, I glued a slightly...

    Tamper Fault Lockout (again!)

Thanks; I will change to 1 in the morning. But is 2 also OK? It could be dodgy wiring but until I moved the RKP 6cms, there has not been any problems. I personally think the problem is that in access the RKP, the two top tabs snapped off, and the stupidly designed tab on the bottom, that the...

    Tamper Fault Lockout (again!)

Just to be clear, there are two options. 1/ remove the two tamp wires on the RKP and join them together. This maintains the connectivity but has taken the dodgy RKP out of the loop. 2/ On the control panel, remove the two tamp wires and link the two terminals with the U shaped link thing...

    Tamper Fault Lockout (again!)

Again, many thanks. Today, I removed the insulation tape holding the case together, stretched the tamper spring a bit and replaced the case, ensuring the tape was tight. Low and behold, the Tamper Lockout Fault message has gone and the system appears to be working as it should. I think I will...

    Tamper Fault Lockout (again!)

Thanks. Will this remove tamper from both RKP (I have two, front door and garage; the garage also has PIR coverage) If no tamper and the PIR is activated, after the entry countdown, the alarm will sound if not deactivated by myself?

    Tamper Fault Lockout (again!)

This garage RKP has a 30 sec entry / exit timer set. Can I take the tamper off-line? Presumably, doing so would not affect the operation of the RKP, just means that if it is ripped from the wall .....? But to rip it from the wall, they would have already activates the timer countdown...

    Tamper Fault Lockout (again!)

Interesting and thanks. It really annoys me that I will have to replace the RKP because the quality of manufacture of the plastic box is so poor. Most likely, a Made in China bit of expletive deleted.

    Tamper Fault Lockout (again!)

What ho all self isolators, I have been researching a Tamper Fault Lockout message on my Accenta G4 Mini RKP and can find lots of solutions, but don't feel any further forward in solving the issue. At the weekend, I moved the garage RKP about 6 cms because it was too close to a wall hanging...

    Reposition RKP

Thanks for your reply. Followed the advice in the booklet, which suggest to remove the cover and when the tamper kicks in, enter the code to stop the bell. Only wanted to reposition about 6cms, and managed to do it without disconnecting the RKP. It is fitted to a timber framed wall, so kinda...
