Thanks for that - I have set d0 & d1 as you suggest but I could do that from the l1 menu. As for the extra functions enabled in the l2, menu, I now realise that I need a list explaining what they are :?

Glow Worm Ultracom - second diagnostic level password???

I'll try the CH range setting as you suggest, however I am concerned that will limit quick warm-up in the morning.

Glow Worm Ultracom - second diagnostic level password???

It is a vain hope that I may be able to fine tune the firing characteristics. When in CH mode and the boiler fires after coming back from HW demand, it initially starts with low heat and then ramps up if required. This means that the temp does not shoot up and therefore the boiler does not go...

    Solar Heating basics

Most gas consumption is for heating, only a tiny fraction goes on hot water. It's not worth it in monetary terms but might give a feel good factor!

Glow Worm Ultracom - second diagnostic level password???

The manual refers to a second diagnostic menu that is accessible using a password. Anyone know the password? Edited by Moderator The password is no longer in this thread. It lets you make adjustments you need knowledge and equipment to monitor. If you think you need it, call the manufacturer.

How to replace thermocouple SMEG cooker??

Well it was reasonably easy in the end. Just used common sense - took the bottom panel off and could access the sensor end. Then took the plate under the burners off and could access the other end. All works OK now :D

How to replace thermocouple SMEG cooker??

I have ordered a new oven thermocouple (flame failure device) for my SMEG SUK60GX 60cm free-standing cooker. I removed the bottom panel from the inside of the oven and I can see the sensor end, which sits in the flame. Before I start to take the sides off can anyone give me any tips as to...

    Can a 50,000 Boiler handle total output 65,000 - 70,000?

We had a Glow Worm Space Saver 50,000 BTU installed 27 years ago with 7 rads. Over the years we went up to 10 rads due to extensions and no problems. TRVs were added to some rads and we had cavity wall insualtion and double gazing at various times. The boiler has just been replaced with an...

What are the advantages of an outside temp sensor on boiler?

After various experiements with series / parallel arrangements of thermistors and a potentiomer, I thought i had a set-up which tracked reasonably well on the Glow Worm Ultracom. When I go into the diagnostic menu on the boiler, I get a direct outdoor reading in degrees C. By adjusting the pot...

Should a condensing boiler be run at low flow temperature?

Looking through this forum some posts indicate that it is a good idea to have the CH water temp as low as you can get away with, consistent with acheiving the desired room temp. Is this the correct way to run a condensing combi system?

Pink Grip discontinued? What's best alternative?

I expect the Evo-Stick and UniBond products are expensive and even the Wickes product is likely to cost more that Pink Grip. I don't want to pay more than £2 per tube!

Pink Grip discontinued? What's best alternative?

I had just go into using pink grip and Screwfix no longer sell it. Is it no longer available? I liked the thick consistency and sticking power. What is a good alternative of similar style?

What are the advantages of an outside temp sensor on boiler?

After reading the replies I now want to add the external sensor. The Ultracom wiring diagram shows where to connect it, however I suspect that there is some setting up to do? I am now familiar with the first level diagnostic menu, however there is a second level menu which is password...

Chris, are you saying that the external sensor should be mounted in the house? (my room stat is a simple on/off one)

What are the advantages of an outside temp sensor on boiler?

Yes, I suppose my question does seem a bit strange. Spoke to him on the phone about something else and he mentioned it in passing. Didn't think to go further at the time, as I was involved with another matter. He is a very busy bloke and I would fit it myself. Can anyone help?
