I'd be concerned on a system without a seperate vent pipe hanging over top of F&E header tank that someone had put a gate valve on the feed (that acts as expansion) that if they closed the valve there would be no where for air water to escape should boiler overheat
a lot of AAV's these days come with a valve underneath so when you unscrew/remove the bottle part of the AAV the water shuts off so you can replace the AAV if it packs up and needs replacing, as the thread of the AAV screws back on it just automatically opens up the washer
fascinating that though because if you have got a system where you have a bent over pipe over the top of the feed tank its end is always open , not covered by water so as water heats up it expands and also pushes air out through the hole , so the air would escape through that way , just same as...
I see what you mean - my kerosene oil boiler setup has a couple of overheat features, a pressure relief valve in the boilers flow pipe (its an outdoor boiler unit) that opens when water gets around 90'c - then also an electrical cut out in the burner thermostat switch for if it overheats (or...
nah, that dont sound right at all then to me - I would branch off your pipe at the bottom of the tank to another pipe going above your F&E tank and bent over the top to make a proper combined F&E system then ... plus also safer if boiler should ever overheat, the water then will just boil up the...
this is how I understand feed and vent (this is not combined F&E) to work , it acts as one way valve so it wont suck air in through the vent pipe - but it will expand when it needs to and release into tank if boiler overheats:
Odd , not seen that combined F&E before done that way - the only combined F&E I have seen is the pic I posted above , where the vent pipe hangs over the top of the header tank
And older systems fed and vented like this:
hi - have you got an AAV anywhere in the system pipework at all? - if you have you can try opening up black/red plastic cap and see if any air releases?
yes thats the strange thing - the only smoke come out of the flue is the white condensation and its not smelly unburt kersosene smell (when its working right - when its not starting right like today it was smelling then) but yeah the inside of the flue is black and sooty so yeah it most probably...
yes your most probably correct , there is even a filter behind the jet on this burner . im just gonna keep an eye on it. A new jet wont break the bank but a analyzer would . In that case I will get someone to come out and do it
Sorted within minutes of posting this I went out, took off blast tube and cleaned electrodes and jet and its firing up now and staying fired up - hopefully fingers crossed that is all it was , I am just keeping an eye on it.
hi all. Our Grant condenser boiler with a RDB2.2 Burner is not firing up properly. its stopping and starting in a loop, terrible smell of unburnt kerosene in the air.
Things I have tried today so far.
Cleaned Photocell with cotton bud - Photocell and black rubber shaft has load of black soot on...
Hi all - I have this old Hoover One Touch Tumble Dryer .
9 times out of 10 the drum will revolve (and both ways fine without intervention and when it does, it dries the clothes normally , but every now and again I am in the other room and can tell the drum has stopped moving around. I go...
Its strange that its a MAP (pressure) sensor as well if it is, because it has a Temp sensor thing in it, and there is already a MAP there on the top of the engine - this one:
Hello again all , just an update my daughter took the car into the Renault Main Dealer today and they changed this sensor:
Part: 223653148R
Lights and messages are off now on the dash, I hope now they stay off - I never did find the location of this sensor in the end
Andy.
This is the MAP sensor that her Mechanic replaced - to me it looks a bit dodgy with a hole 'drilled' there on the top , .. unless thats how it is supposed to look!
And the part number is BOSCH 0281002961 - so just looks like its a pressure sensor only and no IAT built in
Now this is where it...
Different engine on hers to that in the video - but if that is the MAP sensor (seeing where its placed) in that video her's was changed too by a mechanic
