Tiling on plywood - do i need noggins?

After a bit of investigation this weekend to make a decision on materials to buy I’ve realised that removing the floor boards and laying down ply isn't really feasible in the time and budget contraints. The main reason for this is that i assumed the left wall would have a joist under it but...

Using Mapei waterproof kit and Bal adhesive?

Hi, Just wondering if it is ok to use Mapei waterproof kit (http://www.screwfix.com/p/mapei-shower-waterproofing-kit-5kg/78484) with Bal one part flexible adhesive? If so should I also put a primer over the top of the Mapei waterproof kit before putting the adhesive on? I intend to use Bal...

Removing tiles from paramount plasterboard wall

Can I ask what technique you use to remove the plasterboard without damaging the other side? Will I also find that the plasterboard would of been nailed in at the top and bottom or is it just held together by the honeycomb structure?

    Teachers frighten me

Are you sure the wall measurements are correct? The width of the walls seem very small e.g. you could barely fit a small bath in the room, nevermind a toilet etc.[/b]

Removing tiles from paramount plasterboard wall

Thanks bathstyle. I haven't yet started this and going by how little time i have at the moment it may have to wait until I have some time off work before i can start. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Tiling on plywood - do i need noggins?

Thanks for the info. Just out of interest what colour grout would you recommend for a light being floor tile? I'm tiling on to plasterboard which I will tank. The wall tiles are ceramic 250x200. I'm not sure on the depth.

Removing tiles from paramount plasterboard wall

Ok, not what i wanted to hear but thanks for the advice. The problem i have is that adding 20-25mm to the wall is going to mean it'll stick quite a bit past the door frame so was looking for ways around that. On the other walls your method sounds fine. I'll let you know what happens.

Removing tiles from paramount plasterboard wall

Thanks for your advice but could i just clarify what i meant as in my silly DIY mind what i suggested should still support the other side of the wall. So, what i would do is remove a few 3 inch width sections (every 600mm) from top to bottom on the paramount board. I would then put a 3 inch...

Removing tiles from paramount plasterboard wall

Ok, thanks for the replies. I'll give the broad chisel a go but i'll also plan for the worse. If it came to replacing the wall do you think i could cut out a few sections of the plasterboard and eggbox behind out (from top to bottom) and fit a length of wood within these sections and then...

Removing tiles from paramount plasterboard wall

I'm currently looking into retiling my bathroom but i've got an issue in that the current non-plastered paramount (egg-box) plasterboard wall has got two layers of tiles on it. Obviously if i damage the wall in the removal of the tiles it'll be a lot of work to fix. As such i was wondering...

Tiling on plywood - do i need noggins?

Ok great, i take it this is correct - http://www.gards.co.uk/product.php?xProd=484&xSec=124 I'm going with BAL Single Part Flexible for the adhesive from http://www.tileexperience.co.uk/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=159 which i'm going to use on the floor. I haven't yet decided if i'm going...

Tiling on plywood - do i need noggins?

Thanks Richard. I think i understand why now. There is also a door threshold on the right so i'll put noggins in that area too. I've also now updated the image to include the new plan - the yellow indicates the noggins and the orange square indicated the area to be tiled. As for the...

Tiling on plywood - do i need noggins?

I'm about to remove the floorboards in my bathroom and replace with 25mm plywood. Due to the size of the room i'm only going to need 2 pieces of plywood and as such the board will be following along the joists (and as such is never unsupported). The gap between the joists also seems to be...

Radiator removed from CH - using hammerite rust remover?

I've got a radiator that has been removed from the central heating system for the last year that i'm planning to attach back to the system next weekend. I was just wondering if i should use some hammerite rust remover before doing this? It has been kept indoors during this period.
