Magnaclean - leaking out of air vent

When the pin is completely removed i was under the impression that there was a ball bearing that blocks anymore water from coming out on this "pro-fill" air vent. This allows it to be used as a dosing point. If i'm wrong on this please let me know. I get the impression that you're thinking...

Magnaclean - leaking out of air vent

I've recently installed a Magnaclean professional to the return pipe on my combi boiler but it appears to be leaking. When i first installed it, it leaked out of the air vent pin and as such Magnaclean sent a new pro-fill air vent which i installed. It now no longer leaks when this pin is in...

    Which size radiator key?

Hi, I need to remove the a radiator tail piece from a radiator and after looking at the tool to do this i've seen that there appears to be two types available from Monument - Monument 2053U and Monument 2054X. How do i know which one i need? The radiators are about 6 year old.

Switching manual control value and lockshield around?

Thanks all. They're Honeywell VT200e's so they are bi-directional. Where possible though i will try to fit them on the flow.

Switching manual control value and lockshield around?

I'm about to fit some TRV's and ideally on some of the radiators i need to fit them on the side the lockshield is rather than when the manual control valve (MCV) is. Can i just remove the plastic turn knob from the MCV and and then adjust this to be open by the same amount of turns as the...

    Sealing around boiler flue

So i'm guessing that as you've used a standard filler it should be ok to use the foam filler too? I'll be using that for the other holes so it would make things easier. Feeling the flue i'm not sure it ever gets that hot anyway. If an RGI can confirm i'd appreciate it.

    Sealing around boiler flue

I have a Glow Worm 24ci boiler with a vertical flue going through the loft and out the roof. As I'm having some condensation issues in my loft I'm looking at sealing all the gaps in the ceiling leading to the loft. My question is what can i use to seal around the boiler flue? Would ordinary...

    White mold in loft

Please see an image of the white mould on the felt. I'm not too sure if it's on the actual wood as it's the felt that's wet and obviously i can't see what has happened where the wood has touched the felt. I'll try to have a proper look up there tomorrow - so far i've only looked through the...

    White mold in loft

During the summer months last year i had my loft insulation topped up from 30mm to 330mm. At the beginning of this month (when putting the Christmas tree back) I noticed condensation on the felt in the loft (which i haven't seen in the loft before) so I decided to purchase a dehumidifier to...

    Cutting pipe close to wall

It's the return pipe from the CH just before it goes into the boiler. The reason for having to cut it is I'm planning to fit a Magnaclean. As there are some pipes either side of this one would you recommend a specific type of hacksaw?

    Cutting pipe close to wall

Hi, I need to cut a 22mm pipe that is about 1cm from the wall. I was going to buy a Monument automatic pipe cutter (http://www.screwfix.com/prods/12380/Kitchens/Kitchen-Tools/Kitchen-Fitter-s-Tools/Monument-Tools-Automatic-Pipe-Cutter-22mm#)to do this but looking at it now it'll probably be...

Quick question: TRV - play on tail piece

Thanks but ideally i'd like to know about the Drayton. As i'm doing this as a DIY job i'm wondering if the gap between the valve and the radiator may be too big. If I'm worrying over nothing please let me know too.

Quick question: TRV - play on tail piece

I've noticed that Honeywell TRV's mention that they have 6mm of play on the radiator tail piece. Do the Drayton TRV4's have this too? Thanks!
