Renault Laguna II -- Stiff Gear Linkage

Sounds typical for Renault. I had hoped after my initial look I may have missed a cable oiler or similar! Never seen a cable operated linkage before I would have thought this type of system would require maintenance/lubrication regular.

Renault Laguna II -- Stiff Gear Linkage

The gear change on my Laguna (1.8 Petrol 5 speed) started to get intermittently stiff about two months ago and has progressively got worse, now its stiff all the time. There are now worrying sounds from the gearbox while driving or changing so I think its the linkage which is seizing up. As far...

    Changing Laguna Front Wishbones

sucess, job done :) Word to the wise though, this is a total pig of a job and anyone wanting to do it must be prepared to go the full way and drop the subframe totally  The forward bolts holding the wishbone in place have a top hat style nut. In my case with this seized solid on...

    Laguna 1.8 Timing Belt

Thanks very much, I purchased the Autodata words on how to do it and had already decided to get the garage to do it. Have the kit already so its only the labour, sometimes DIY mechanics is more about knowing when to say I don't have the kit!

    Changing Laguna Front Wishbones

I was being rather brutal  Big pipe over my breaker bar to give a bit more leverage etc, something had to break, I just thought it would be the breaker bar joint!! I have just ordered the bolts from the main dealer......... a whopping £39.76 and two days delivery  Before this...

    Changing Laguna Front Wishbones

The second socket was a Hexagon style socket form my good set  . I have borrowed a 3/4" set to have another go tonight, tried all the usual tricks  with heat etc before shattering the second socket. No verdict on the cutting option then?

    Laguna 1.8 Timing Belt

So no special tools required then? I wasn't sure what with it being 16v I might need a fancy tool to lock the camshafts.... Last one I did was an Audi V6 TDI and stupidly I didn't take a photo before removing the belt, then the phone rang, about 2 hrs later I had worked out how the belt ran!!

    Changing Laguna Front Wishbones

I have read some threads on other forums describing the basic method for changing these, not easy I appreciate............ I gather you can change them without having to completely remove the subframe however I have a problem. The bolts securing the wishbones to the subframes appear to be...

    Oil Fired Boilers

Having benefitted from the very useful input of forum users regarding my proposed ASHP heating system I am now looking at going the more conventional OIl Fired boiler route. So I thought it would be sensible to ask what makes people would recommend?

    ASHP - Wet system

O.K. Heat pump idea now well and truely dumped, looks like it will be an oil system. On comparison when considering all the unknown aspects of heat pump technology it would appear to be a relatively safe option which will perform well and hopefully be relatively economical with all the...

    ASHP - Wet system

O.K. then guys, clean sheet what would you fit to heat the house? 100 sqm floor area bugalow, insulated to the hilt and set in just under 1 acre of ground, budget for install about £8K. No mains gas supply and no existing system build on. Incase it makes any difference I am in coastal area...

    ASHP - Wet system

O.K. thank you all for your views. Can I deduce from the above that Diakin Altherma is NOT the way forward and looking at something like a Sanyo system would be the way forward :? I think having digested all this information I may well abandon the plans and live with the very expensive...

    ASHP - Wet system

Some confusion caused. After a fairly frank discussion with the engineer who has contacted Diakin (i have sent him a copy of this literature as they seemed to think my interpretation was wrong) it would appear that they maintain a mean water temperature of 50 degrees is correct. The engineer...

    ASHP - Wet system

Mmm I am going on what the engineer told me, now I HAD faith but that is changing. The is going to be the LT split system, which looking at the booklet as you say does operate in a regime of temperature below how I had done the calculations. I will need to speak to the engineer this evening...

    ASHP - Wet system

Oh and the flow temperature. The engineer has advised the flow will be 55 and a return of 45 therefore I assume the mean temperature would be 50. Cheers
