Shower fitting issue 15mm compression or pushfit

the reason you have to use a compression elbow is because the shower spigot is not long enough to use a speedfit one

    Sealing Radiator tails

no probs, what you have to remember is a rad tapping is a parallel thread not a tapered one so the when the ptfe starts to squash up as you tighten it makes a washer which is what seals it, sealing compound such as boss white will only work on a tapered fitting

    Boiler gone again

Is your o/v system connected to the softner ? if it is then there lies the prob with your boiler, WB MUST NOT be fed by softned water as you found out it will knacker the hex
  15. C

    Sealing Radiator tails

there is no debate, sealing compond won't work on rad tails & they will leak, ptfe or loctite 55 every time, if they leak using ptfe then you haven't put enough on

Tap with a mind of its own

as above & you will also have limescale inside the end of the spout (notice the white around the spout), try getting rid of the limescale & you may find your prob goes away

    No drain valves on radiators?!?

it's not two pipes to drain the system it's most prob the flow & return for the heating, the drain off on the boiler will drain the upstairs & also allow the boiler to be changed with min water being left in it & you are going to do work on his heating system
