Apply weed killer to monobloc drive after power washing

I have glyphosate 360, doesn't kill horsetail effectively even applied neat, kills the shoots but not the rhizomes. I have found caustic soda does, also cleans the patio.

Should these joists be fixed to stop roof spreading...

I meant mine is three times bigger supported both ends by the walls. I like this type of roof gives good space in between the purlins.

Apply weed killer to monobloc drive after power washing

Glyphosate isnt the right stuff for this it will be all but gone in under a week. It soon breaks down. Its why its so popular. Salt is an excellent idea. For more stubborn weeds bleach works well i use Caustic Soda on Horsetail dead in a few days.

Should these joists be fixed to stop roof spreading...

Just out of interest what is the big beam called in the first picture. This is how my roof is constructed but that beam is about 3 times bigger. I have actually added struts from said beam down to the joists to help support them for when i board it out.

    Floorboards smell of urine

I usually get one for the day, the ozone kills the bacteria causing the smell. Used these before. http://www.brandontoolhire.co.uk/en/cooling-ventilation-and-heating/221-ozone-generators.html 100mg/hour unit usually does a car in about 30 minutes. The 1g/hour isnt much more for the day. You...

    Floorboards smell of urine

Might be cheaper to hire an ozone generator. I have used them on cars before and they work really well at getting rid of odors.

    Insulating plastic fittings.

What does everyone use to insulate around the fittings of plastic pipe. I have loads of the 25mm thick climaflex stuff for the 15 and 22mm pipes. My first thought is to just use some hair felt wrapped around, with maybe some foil tape around that to keep it tidy.

    Radiators

Depends on the size of the pipework, size of the radiators. 10mm = 2500W 8mm = 1500W You might require upsizing to 15mm which will carry 6000W.

    Chasing a brick wall.

Thanks for the advise guys, i will keep looking for some other route for the 22mm runs. Would putting a good size bit of plasterboard over the pipes instead of hardwall/mortar help with avoiding any cracking.

    Chasing a brick wall.

Not really, there is another door there. I have looked at all sorts of ways and short of running pipes all to the other side of the house or having a big obvious boxed section the only way is to chase them in. Another idea i had was to chase them in shallow and cover with some thin ply screwed...

    Chasing a brick wall.

I may try and run the 22 a different way, currently the central heating goes up somewhere by the chimney in 15mm, presume there used to be a back boiler. See if i can push the conduit and pipe down there. The DHW and a cold water for the bathroom will need to be chased into the wall, but the...

    Chasing a brick wall.

That's the plan all along I have Hep20 conduit, should reading the regs I can go a 1/3rd into the brick which is 34mm plenty to bury the conduit, plan to use mortar in place of plaster then skim it, should avoid any cracking and slow new to go thinner. Not much else I can do, I don't like the...

    Chasing a brick wall.

Can't do that, there is a door at a right angle to the wall so can't bring the wall out any further. The run will only be 2.4m. Surely the pipe in pipe would be the same and you would have it in contact with the brickwork /concrete. I plan to go about 25mm deep the plaster being about 15mm...

    Chasing a brick wall.

No it will be getting plastered, Hardwall and multi finish. Hep2o pipe. I plan to drill a line of holes then use the sds to finish it off hopefully not too much dust especially if I get someone with a vacuum. Just hoping structurally is a sound plan.

    Chasing a brick wall.

I have a cavity brick wall i need to chase for running central heating pipes to upstairs. I'm pretty sure the wall is non load bearing, its the end wall of the house so the joists aren't on it, am i right in thinking i can take upto 1/3rd out so for standard bricks around 34mm. Is there a limit...
