    Complete CH install advise.

I'm part way through doing this myself, all new system. All my radiators have arrived and i'm in the process of hanging them and running the pipework. Going to run the flow and return uncut along a wall, the boiler will be going on the other side of said wall so the installer can cut into the...

It's definitely tapered edge but only on the long edges.

    Replace plasterboard ceiling.

Going well so far, one thing that has me puzzled though, how do you tape and fill the none tapered edges?

    Replace plasterboard ceiling.

Coving is going on anyway so that's fine. Regards the asbestos it certainly doesn't look like it, looks like filler or a thick coating of paint, no fibers in it at all. So I take the risk using goggles and a good respirator.

    Replace plasterboard ceiling.

Just making sure im not missing anything. During removing the spikey bits on a textured coating on the celing it was obvious the coating wasnt stuck very well, also lots of sagging section where the board has dropped slightly. So im going to replace the lot, at least its the easy to get to top...

    Thermostat Help

Doesnt really matter which way around, its just a simple switch. If you had read the manual it does state that the earth connection is there purely to stick an earth wire if there is one but its not required. I fitted one yesterday which had the neutral as well, which also isnt required so just...

    Core drilling.

Seems a lot of conflicting advise. I need to do a 52mm one as well so might see how it goes with that first.

    Core drilling.

Be going through normal single brick in the loft for an extractor fan.

    Core drilling.

The manual says for core drilling don't use hammer action. Nothing about the size of hole though, is there a limit?

    Core drilling.

Wasnt sure where to put this but thought plumbers probably do a lot of core drilling. I have this drill. http://www.screwfix.com/p/makita-hr2470wx-2-3kg-sds-plus-hammer-drill-240v/29604#product_additional_details_container And want to drill a 117mm hole is it up to the task?

    Dehumidifier or PIV system

We run a dehumidifier for around 2 hours per day. Extractor fan in bathroom is one of those terrible wall jobbies, and no extractor in the kitchen. Those 2 hours a day keeps the house around 55%. Its a desiccant dehumidifier as well so produces a reasonable amount of heat as part of its process...

    Insulating plastic CH pipes

Not worth the price difference then, at nearly twice the price. Thanks for that. Seems it has its worth where there are difficult hard to reach corners as it bends.

    Insulating plastic CH pipes

Is that any better than the 25mm climoflex stuff. I usually tape up edges with foil tape as well.

    Insulating plastic CH pipes

Does this brand of pipe have the barrier in it? Should be able to check that written on the pipe.

    Insulating plastic CH pipes

That's why I like the hep2o idea, twist the pipe and it rumbles so you know it has an insert. I guess as a diy I will be putting a lot more attention to it though. But the amount of horror stories is huge, and seems to be the reason a lot say plastic is rubbish, it's the installation that's...

    Insulating plastic CH pipes

They might not leak straight away, that's the problem. Remove one fitting and look in the pipe, obviously not easy if the system is full. But it's an area they skimp on because it's not easy to see there missing until it starts leaking. If I weren't doing mine myself I wouldn't trust anyone...

    Insulating plastic CH pipes

Considering how lazy the install looks. You sure he has used pipe inserts.

Help with planning a cable run for data cables

Help with planning a cable run for data cables

The reason 20mm is so good to use is it fits perfectly into the knockouts of the boxes. Going bigger will mean you need to put the boxes deeper as well to them be able to cover them up. Oval is a good idea or even some rectangular trunking.
