    Efflorescence/Damp

See pics attached - having looked through pics of rising damp online it does not look the same as I have - but that may just be wishful thinking on my behalf. Apologies for quality of pics (cameraphone done after dark) but it shows the height it reaches in one particular area where the clock...

    Efflorescence/Damp

Hi all - some advice /thoughts needed. I have posted on here in the past about problems with my plastering/paintwork on one wall within the living room - which the consensus was efflorescence (Hope I got that right). So solutions were offered all of which started with "find the cause of the...

    3 port diverter valve???

No such valve located near the pump or in the airing cupboard. Did the IT solution and turned it off for a while at the mains - seems to be working right now. Will monitor and come back if not fixed - the vagaries of this heating system are beyond me......

    3 port diverter valve???

Okay thanks - have googled what one looks like - will do this when I get home. I am assuming that it should be fairly obvious where it is located (close to the boiler and external to it?) and easy to identify?

    3 port diverter valve???

Older Mistral boiler is currently pumping out heat for the radiators, but not heating the water tank. Have checked that there is no air lock to the tank, bled the supply point to the tank. The strange thing is if I put the heating on the "Water only" setting the radiators still come on...

    Cold stone mullions

Within my house we have 3 sets of windows that have mullions through to the external wall. On the external side they stick out at 45 degree angles each side as is the norm. But inside they are flat, flush against the level of the window. They have then been painted. Inside during...

    Woodburning stove query

Apologies if not correct forum, but most other woodburing questions are in this section. I have a wood burning stove - installed before I bought the house 2 years ago. For 3/4 of the height of the stove inside there is a lining about an inch and a half thick - looks like concrete. As this...

Evening all - as a complete novice the forum has guided me through a fair few fixes. But with me spending increasing amounts of time overseas for work i want to take out a coverplan - such as the British Gas offers. Are there any such plans to cover an oil fired boiler and central heating...

Efflorescence above DPC - interior wall

Did not want to hijack the other thread until the guy had an answer. On the post below I describe a problem with paint "peeling" due to this problem. http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=180386 Having searched for the course of the damp I think it is due to no vents into the...

    Damp, platering or painting issue?

One exterior facing wall is having issues with paint "Bubbles". Wall is about a foot and a half thick, stone construction. Interior walls plastered then painted (Before I moved in). Bubbles appear, which if touched the top coat of paint crumbles off. Underneath there is a sealant type...

I have little DIY skill, but love this forum as it lets you have a crack. But trust me if my leg was better I'd have gone and sat in a warm pub all weekend and called someone out on Monday! :D
