Oil fired boiler - oil feed needs bleeding

SWEEEEEEET! After a whole raft of blowing down a pipe, the oil started flowing. Then hooked it up to the boiler, bled as per instructions and after a wait of a lifetime (About 5 seconds) it kicked in. I am now sitting back feeling the warmth. Thanks all for the advice - very very...

Oil fired boiler - oil feed needs bleeding

Got it down to a blockage between filter and boiler. On advice from a tradesman took the fuel supply line off and nothing coming through at all. Went back, re-cleaned filter etc, no joy. Basically tomorrow am going to try and blow the pipe through to clear it. Called about 20...

Both. just took the filter off and a fair bit of crap was in there. Will try to bleed now EDIT - Just tried, still no joy - pump (with bleed note open a turn) starts up on for about 8 seconds then buzzes, cuts out and locks me out for about 30 seconds. Any suggestions? Is the...

Oil fired boiler - oil feed needs bleeding

Did not bleed - so think it may be the filter. Have called someone who promised to come out this morning - but no show and his mobile is off. How do I check the filter (Not keen to do so as I have a broken leg and don't want to be messing about outside - but need the heating on for the...

Oil fired boiler - oil feed needs bleeding

When you say "The bleed nut you need to use"...... you mean? Pretty happy with this, should be: 1 - Try to bleed with boiler off. Easy. 2 - If not redo bleed valve then slacken off slightly, fire her up and get ready sharpish.

Good stuff fella - and the filter is that the small chamber attached to the supply pipe? If it does turn out to be that - is it an easy fix?

Oil fired boiler - oil feed needs bleeding

So open that - with everything turned off - and the air should flow out? Then tighten and fire her up - standing back in amazement as the heat defrosts the Mrs (Some chance!)?

Oil fired boiler - oil feed needs bleeding

Some more info - Mistral boiler - with a Riello 40 pump. One other forum for a different boiler suggests using the bleeding screw - I have attached the below pic - is one of these the bleeding screw?

Oil fired boiler - oil feed needs bleeding

I ran out of heating oil yesterday (Idiotic I know) and had the tank refilled this morning. Oil is not flowing to the pump and the installer (Previous house owner) has a note inside the boiler saying I will have to bleed the oil line to start it again. How do I go about this - simple oil...

Birds nest in Chimney - is this quote reasonable

Got a birds nest in the chimney - sweep tried to move it but brought a load of bricks down. Reckons he has to chisel into chimney in the loft, remove it and brick it back up. He has quoted £250 for this. Thanks

    Fernox in indirect system?

Okay: Firstly apologies for the awful quality of pictures, but the camera battery is flat, so taken on my phone..... The tank looks like this: At the top as you can see is an inlet into the top chamber which houses a ballcock. There is an overflow also. At the bottom...

    Fernox in indirect system?

Can try - but would be the weekend before I can - away for work at the moment. The background is that the system was full of black sludge which not only led to cold spots on rads, but also led to a bloody noisy pump. Rads now fine after draining the system a few times, pump to be cleaned...

    Fernox in indirect system?

There is a tank in the loft. But the tank for hot water and CH is a combination tank - I have the label in front of me right now. I assumed one fed the other, but as I say never been able to check as the floor is boarded up so cant see the pipes - so maybe not, maybe this is for cold taps...
