What to use to fix patio pointing

Hello all, I jet washed the patio last weekend, and blasted out quite a bit of pointing in the process before I realised what was happening. Looking at what came out, its pretty crumbly stuff. Firstly, should jet washing have blasted this stuff out, or was it badly pointed in the first...

cracking an egg into a car radiator

http://www.radiatorsonline.co.uk/ Cheap as chip for rads. Hardly worth geting one repaired, unless you can easily access the hole and repair with epoxy or chemical metal (from experience, works well on ali rads) James

    Angle grinder advice needed.

Just remember that 9" angle grinders are scary old things. I always use my 115mm one in preference (got a couple, even the cheap as chips screwfix one with diamond blade is fine)- the big ones are heavy unwieldy and dangerous things!! As said before lots of safety gear advised.

    sheet metal cutting

If its all straight edges and you can man handle the pieces, I would use a stanley knife (!!) and a straight edge to score along the cut line. Keep scoring until 25-50% through (wont take more than 4-5 scores with that thickness). Then simply bend back and forth along the score line - fatigue...

    Vokera excell SP80 keep screeching..

Call me Mr Naive, but I am one of those people who actually want to learn about things, and learn how to fix things, rather than pay someone else large sums of cash to do something I am capable of doing myself, given some advice of course! The last person who looked at the boiler (A Vokera...

    Expansion Joint in Facing brick

I did a search on Screwfix for polysulphide, but nothing came up - guess I will have to read the specs carefully unless someone has a direct link.....:) James

    Vokera excell SP80 keep screeching..

Its not the fan - that just been replaced. Problem with tracking down the source of the noise is that it usually only happens after water hasn't been flowing for a while - so, once its happened once you have to wait ages for this to settle down before the screech happens again. For...

Is the SDS+ drill on front of Toolstation catalog any good?

I've got a bog standard Bosch hammer drill (not SDS) for wall stuff - this was really for the occasional heavier work, holes in concrete, chasing etc. But sounds like a 2kg would be good enough? James

    Expansion Joint in Facing brick

Sorry to butt in, but have exactly the same thing to do on a house I am just about to move in to. Where is the best (read cheapest) place to get that sealant from? I've checked my usual suspects to no avail. James

    Vokera excell SP80 keep screeching..

Nope, only change has been the diapragm service kit. I did all three diapragms, plus replaced all the seals on plunger rods thingies, plus the bobbin. Basically if there was a spare part in the kit, I changed it. James

Is the SDS+ drill on front of Toolstation catalog any good?

Title says it all really.. Also here http://www.toolstation.com/index.html?code=89039 Would be for occasional DIY use etc. Not sure from spec whether has rotostop - assume so as it provides chisels, but could be wrong. James

What material to cover external expansion joints in wall?

Hi all, I am about to buy a house and the surveyor (and I) noticed that where the extension is attached, there is an expansion joint from floor to roof on the outside of the wall. This appears as a slot about 1cm or a bit more wide, about 1-2cm deep, with the metal expansion joint at the...

    Vokera excell SP80 keep screeching..

Hi all, I recently installed the gasket service kit which also replaced the bobbin thing in the divertor valve. However after a month or two, it started screeching when water started to flow. I stripped down the divertor, cleaned everything and put it back together. All fine. Now after about...

    Vokera Excel very noisy

Hi all, newbie here so be gentle! I have a Vokera Excel 80SP that has recently become very noisy. The noise occurs when either the heating starts up after being off for a while, or a hot tap is turn on after being off for a while. Its a sort of screech/rumble - I liken it to lots of bubbles...
