    Choosing a new boiler

Not sure of that analogy. That would make them have big wheels, idiotic spoilers, crappy paint jobs and driven by idiot chavs once they are a few years old. (I'm getting old when I hate those fools with a £500 car with 10k worth of ICE and 2k paint job!) If you want to use car comparisons I'd...

    RADS DOWNSTAIRS COLD

How old is your pump? Sounds like it may be due a replacement. I'd get BG to do and charge U for a powerflush too......... That's sarcasm.

    Choosing a new boiler

I like the WB boilers. They do exactly what you want from a boiler.

Can I un-install my own gas cooker?

As long as you leave it safe it is. (Sadly after all that money on acs) Check it's not leaking with some leak detector spray. If it is turn off the gas and call someone. goodluck.

Can I un-install my own gas cooker?

Prune? Never been to a leaking bayonet fitting? If you don't know how to do it leave it alone. Gas go bang!

Can I un-install my own gas cooker?

Gas work should only be undertaken by a competent person. So if you have to ask I think Not.......

    BG Powerflush

BG like to sell the odd powerflush. They should wear masks. Dick Turpin did. I did a powerflush on a system that bg said desperatly needed it. It was the least productive one I've done. The magaclean was just that even after 6hours. wasters. More likely your pump is on it's way out. struggling...

    Halstead Ace High

Ah Halstead. Great. I had a row with the rep once. Was buying a Solo2 and he asked why not a Halstead Best? I tols him just because U call it the Best don't mean it is! He didn't find that at all funny......

What's the "Rolls Royce" of Boilers?

OTOH I can't think of any boiler that won't economically last five years. True there is the odd exception, but what is a manufacturer really offering with a 5 year guarantee? An insurance policy. Doesn't really say anything about the quality of the boiler, just says, our marketing department are...

    MagnaClean

I fit em as standard. I have a clear jar with system water in it. I show the customers what it's cappable of and they all want one. The powerflush one is the dogs. Customers love to seee they are getting soemthing for the money and when U show them the magnets afterwards........

    undoing somebody else's bad workmanship?

No silicon the outside. That way if water gets inside a joint it runs back into the tray and not over the floor. A top rep from Matki told me this many moons ago and I've never had a problem since. Unless the silicon is dry it will just wash out.

    Baxi or WB

Is the baxi 5 year warenty any good when they take so long to get out to a faulty appliance, 5 days seems to be the norm for them, then they don't have the parts. Go for the WB. 2 year warenty. And better boiler.

    CORGI PLUMBING

Am I being cynical? Or is the CORGI plumbing registration scheme just another money making exersice? Did I read the form right? Is it really another £300! Even Dick Turpin wore a mask. I've been a Corgi member since before it was compolsary and have supported them. But I'm begining to...

    Solar Water Heating

How many solar panels would I need to heat say 150 litre cylinder. I would put 30 tubes on for that. That way you'll have plenty. I have 180 litres and 30 tubes. In the peak times it's hot by 11am.

    Back Boiler Venting

Oh my gosh. The Baxi Back boiler is one of the most reliable boilers of all times. I have fitted dozens of them. The have very little to go wrong on them. I service some that are well into their 20's. Ok so may not be most economical but save a fortue in repair bills.
