Here it is The top picture I take it is the valve head. Should I be able to place a screwdriver into the slot and turn it.? The slot opens before the thing turns. Micro switch looks good as does the shaft of the motor.

Ok. So although the stat isn’t on the tank it will regulate the temp via air temp around it. So it will go in and out on it. I think I can isolate it as all entry exit points have manual valves. The pump has one above and below but no red handle on them but I take it that I can remove a handle...

ok guys - here is what I did. chiselled out bits of loose concrete and dug out dry mix that didn't go off 20 years ago. levelled with sharp sand bought pre mixed mortar placed waves of it on area wet it and stone placed stones on top been a month or two and looks ok for now thanks everyone
