You guys know of any portable batteries with lot's of power?

Have a look at some of the model engineering sites. There are some nice battery packs for electric model aircraft with amazing power/weight ratio BUT they are not cheap! Frank

Why do my kitchen Spot Lights seem to fade in and out !!!

Some (all?) dimmers seem to accentuate any mains voltage variations caused by either yours or other users load variations. Frank

    No, don't do this..... Frank

    Flickering Light

It probably means that the neon indicator is on its way out. If everything else is working OK I would just ignore it. Frank

Wall Scanner Cable / Metal / Wood Detector

I have the Bosch DMF 10. It seems to be totally incapable of detecting wooden studs behind plasterboard. What it can do however, is detect the nails and hence find the studs that way. It is also quite sensitive in detecting cables in walls so it is not completely useless. Frank

Main House fuse blown - what type and size to fit

Its not your fuse to replace and how are you going to re-seal it if you do replace it? Get the supply company in... Frank

Is this a bayonet cooker connection?

No, that is not a bayonet fitting it is a standard pipe union. The bayonet fitting is a plug/socket. The socket has a flanged mounting to the wall and is self sealing when the "plug" is removed. Frank

    LEDS Mains?

12v LED lamps are designed to replace halogen lamps and as such are powered from 12v AC transformers. They will also work directly from a 12v battery for emergency lighting. Frank

    Recommended extractor fan

This is good advice. An in-line or "Duct Fan" is the quiet option (but not the cheapest) Frank

    Socket Connections

Take them back and get your money back. Preferably use a wired network or wireless. Those devices cause a large amount of interference over a wide area and IMHO should be illegal. Frank

Reconnecting BT Mastersocket wires, With Pics.

That is not a master socket, it is an old-style junction box. BT will not charge you to upgrade it to a proper master socket. Frank

    RCD Tripping

Some MCB's when tripped leave the operating lever in the ON position and, like yours, require an OFF/ON to reset. I would look at the loads connected to the kitchen circuit. Anything with a heating element, I would suspect first. (Dishwasher, Washing machine, Oven, grill, kettle) You need to...

    lights in a swimming pool

Swimming pools are quite brightly lit anyway. I would never consider installing any form of floodlighting, the problems are huge. You should be able to get good results by using a high ISO value (film or digital ?) or consider using several battery slave flashes around the pool. You will need...

Energy Saver Bulb flickers when swiched off?

That's due to the voltage gradient between the line and earth. The OP's flickering is more likely caused by Capacitive coupling rather than Inductive. Frank

    regs for local isolation

A fixed machine should have a local isolator. Local isolation is performed by removing the plug from the socket. If this is a workshop container, I would like an emergency stop isolator but it is not at all mandatory. Frank

How best to apply silicone sealant

I disagree. The fact that a Tiler would never use one is irrelevant. Someone who is doing this every day would build up the skill level so as not to need such aids. I do tiling and use silicone sealer as DIY and need all the help I can get. The Fugi tool helps me, that's why I mentioned it...

Light Switch/Fitting Problem 1- way circuit.

It honestly doesn't sound like you have sufficient knowledge to carry out this job. For your own safety, you need the help of someone who knows what they are doing. Before taking off the ceiling rose, you should have identified and marked the cable going to the switch. Because you didn't do...

Electric supply is causing lights to flicker...

No It sounds to me that there maybe a problem with your supply. Dimmers can accentuate any incoming voltage fluctuations. Firstly, carefully feel around your consumer unit without opening it to see if anything is getting warm due to a bad connection. If not, then I would get your electricity...
