On closer inspection, 2 of the USB wires look the same at the Cat5e wires, but the other 2 are slightly wider... What should I do? :? Would it work if I just used the Cat5e wires or would I be risking something?

I want to extend a cable (for an internal USB conection within my PC). I have some 1.5mm Crimp Connectors. Do I have to strip the individual wires, or will the crimp bite through the plascic covering? I think I will need to strip the wires but I thought I would ask here for confirmation first...
