    BT lines

I thought that on a business line BT would respond and fix problems within a certain number of hours rather than the days it can take on domestic numbers.

    LED lights

What I wanted to do was to have two or three of them in the ceiling above a whirlpool bath to create an romantic, sensu........ enough of that, lighting effect, as the lights in the bath it's self were over £150, so it doesnt need to light a room just the bath area.

    Connecting bath waste

It was just a hope that there may have been a way to connect into the horozontal soil pipe properly. Luckily the first joist is the last one in a run and spaced at 150mm rather than 450mm on one side, and on the other side of the wall the joist is supported midway so looking on a Building regs...

    Connecting bath waste

I have a problem that I can sort, but I am wondering if there is a easier way. I am installing a new bath and I want to plumb the waste under the floorboards - no problem the run is the same way as the joists. When I reach the wall I need to turn 90deg and through two joists which runs each...

    Speeding ticket!

Agreed, although not a justification for speeding, the only time I got stopped was late one night on the A1 near Alnwick the road was deserted and i was doing 82 in a 70. The officer could have used his discresion but given i had a tail light out as well I got 3 points + fine fairish cop. A...

    Speeding ticket!

Anyone got any idea how fast you have to be going to be caught by the first picture on a GATSO but missed by the second. I guess it would be bl**dy fast but interesting to know. Just an interesting point, but hopefully not an urban legend. The penalty for not displaying a numberplate is...

    Horrible thought

Theres me starting a thread having thought I had made a cockup and finding I hadn't, then finding I had and got good advice on fixing it once we'd worked out what I meant, now the topic of conversation has got round to making posts clearer by properly expressing ones meaning ie 10mm² :oops...

    Horrible thought

Many thanks to you both for explaining several points, I realize my terminology was lacking in clarity. Actually the cable is probably closer to 40m than 50m, but in any case I now know that it really should have a breaker to protect the cable, so I will get that sorted. A number of points...

    Horrible thought

What is FFS? I hope it's not rude!!!! OK I found FFS. I am now a bit confused could you explain the problem. On the TLC cable size calculator. The 10mm SWA is good for 48.26A can you explain the 21A to me. Sorry to appear dim!! David

    Horrible thought

Yes, yes, yes. It's 10mm 3 core SWA cable overall diameter about 3/4".

    Horrible thought

See what you mean. Given the length of the cable - 50m and the diameter 10mm, the max current would be around 48A. So 50A breaker should protect the cable before it reaches the CU and also, not that I'm going to do it again, should it br dug up it will not blow the main fuse!!!!!. Am I...
