Choc block vs Jnt Box

Are there any rules on the use of choc block/jnt boxes (apart from using the correct size!!!!!!) as to where and when they can be used, I suppose to open the question up a little more for information the use of crimps could also be included in any replies

most screw terminals must be accesible for inspection. exactly what acessible means is somewhat disputed.

crimped or soldered or resin encapsulated joints otoh do not need to be accesible for inspection. most sparkys dislike soldering and resin encapsulation is usually only used for underground SWA joints. so in practice sparkys tend to crimp.

ofc if something isn't accesible for inspection an inspector can't tell what type it is to tell if it needs to be accesible for inspection.

Sounds just like somthing from Yes Minister.

I take it therefore there is very little difference between choc block and jnt boxes?

chock block doesn't have a built in enclosure so you must enclose it in a chockbox or similar. same for crimps.
