    Inhibitor

Just a quick question, I have a 2 zone heating system, upstairs and downstairs are separate zones. Am I correct that I just need to put the inhibitor into a rad in one of the zones and it’ll just flow through or does each zone need an inhibitor added.

upgrading heating control to smart - complete newbie!

I’ve got an almost identical setup and similar kit although my wiring was a tad different. I only had hot water control from the TQX and then my wall thermostats (Honeywell) were hard wired. I tried the wiser and couldn’t get it working and switched to Tado and got that wired up in a breeze.

Help appreciated with Ethernet cable / Second router

Yeah, they usually can; you’d have to hard-wire (run Ethernet to) them and change settings on them to have that happen. What brand / model do you have as spares

    Multiple hubs

If you can, rather use a POE switch; again Ubiquiti does these to. I haven’t read the documentation to see how many AP’s one can power but depends on the the injector. A lot of this comes down to what you want out of your network. For most, one AP would be enough but as I am in IT, guess my...

    Multiple hubs

I did the same at the old place I lived at. I actually boosted my WiFi across the road and then donated my old smart TV to the OAP! The internet was a new concept to them; Netflix was a game changer and a year later the OAP’s had smart phones, WhatsApp and were embracing technology. Blew...

    Multiple hubs

It’s a tough one, but I had similar issues at my previous place. UniFi and some others have channel scanners and it’s about finding a channel that is not used by those other networks. They have a utility called WiFi-man that helps me find the right channel to configure my broadcasting on. I...

    Multiple hubs

+1 vote to the UniFi gear; I had to power mine down but that’s cause I moved house and wasn’t leaving the dream machine and AP’s behind.

    Password APPs

I use LastPass … family subscription and have been with them for years. The most important password generally is your email account these days as with access to that, most other passwords can be reset. But where it exists, I add 2FA and use Authy for that or a text message. Nothing is...

    What's a Good Keyboard & Mouse Combo?

There’s that saying about “Buy Cheap, Buy Twice” … but this does come down to how much you use your devices. I work from home and am forever hacking emails and in front of the PC. I went with the Logitech MX range. The benefit aside from durability and good battery life + ability to USB charge...

    Multiple hubs

I always use solid copper for the long runs and static wiring. I’ve been using this one recently for some of the outdoor runs I’ve been doing. https://amzn.eu/d/9dkjbjV

Help appreciated with Ethernet cable / Second router

I’m a bit late to this thread but will share what I did at my old house for the benefit of context. So running the Ethernet cable to another location from the main hub is the right thing. You’ve terminated it into a RJ45 face plate from what I can see, again all good. I’d stick a switch on...

Hey audio visual experts, I’m looking to get a new telly, can any of you offer any advice on these two TV's?

problem with going to places likes curry’s or JL is that you land up chatting to someone who is incentivised to a particular brand or they have just personal experience. I used to be a fan of Sony, then switched to Samsung and now it’s LG for me all the way. I got a C3 48” a few weeks back...

Time to look at central heating again.

My 2c here as just moved into a new build and had 2 zones on a Honeywell system with wired thermostats for each zone. Found that I couldn’t get a constant temp across the house and the boiler was firing up all the bloody time. Really driven by the fact that to warm anything up, I needed one of...

    Wiser question

Just to wrap this thread up … managed to install a Tado wired kit + extra wired thermostat and with some TRV’s, got it wired up, installed and configured. Time will tell on the savings aspect but have already found that the house has a much more contestant temperature and can fire up the RADs...

    Wiser question

Thanks for the replies. I’ll have a rethink; the water part I’m not to bothered by as the tank supplies the water from what I know. It’s the room temps that really is what drove me down the smart thermostats. Noticed that Tado does a wired kit; just for thermostats and they can control smart...

    Wiser question

Aaaah I think what you’re saying is that the Kit three would be wired up there rather than at the wall where the existing thermostats are located? This those would be redundant essentially.

    Wiser question

Yeah managed to get it off … Then realised that for some reason this whole system has a unique wiring system and as you say, there is a wiring hub in the airing cupboard. Mind is a bit blown now … am not going to try fiddle in there Seems to be 3 valves and a pump of some sort all wired up...

    Wiser question

Hi Guys, Moved into a new build and want to upgrade to a smart heating system and decided on the wiser after much reading. Anyways, bought on the Black Friday a Wiser Thermostat kit 3 as the current house has 2 zones and heating. Long story short … I’m worried what I have isn’t right. The...

    Upgrade to room controlled thermostats

I was just testing to see if they actually work to be honest, so I set the thermostat on the wall to 22 and then the TRV (the manual kind) is set to III (3) on the dial. I think the main problem with the setup as it is (new build remember, so didn't have much choice of what they installed) is...
