    Tile up? Or tile down?

One more thing....! I have both a diamond wet wheel cutter and normal tile cutter (score and snap). Which shall I use on the ceramics? Is it better to use the wet wheel regardless, or is it a bit overkill on ceramics?

    what transformer to use?

I would expect nothing less. To anyone that is offended by my problem, my next question is this: If I am to plug the lights into a socket, can I use a spur off the mains to a switched socket (hidden discretely) which is in turn controlled by a switch on the wall? Does this have to be a...

    what transformer to use?

Well this doesn't seem to work. Can anyone shed any light on this? The first picture shows the controller that all the LEDs plug into, this has two wires which run to the transformer (second picture) this then in turns goes to the lighting circuit (or mains). When it didn't work on the...

Removing itchen tiles - appear superglued!

I'm only a diyer, so someone correct me if I'm wrong. The ease with which the tiles come off will depend on how well they were put on in the first place. And the amount of damage to plaster will depend on how good the plaster is and how good the tiling is. I have removed tiles with old...

PPS gcol, while you're here. I posted about whether to pva my walls first (but didn't get much of a reply), i a put a skim coat of plaster to smooth out a lot of cruddy plaster and fill wire runs etc. I checked the back of the bal adhesive and it said to seal with bal stuff if the plaster is...

    Tile up? Or tile down?

I'm tiling my kitchen with 300mm x 100mm ceramic tiles. I am tiling above the worktop, I think the usual way to do this would be to place a batton above the worktop, tile up from here, then fill in the space between the batton and the worktop. I have some wall cupbards above the worktop and...
