Cable Clamp for Hanging Glass Light fitting

Fear not I inspected it carefully and it was very secure the lamp holder end was firmly attached and to the hollow rod, and the cable was held in to rod with a strong and firmly tightened grip. The rob is also earthed as is the rose. I was pretty impressed by most of the design but not with...

Cable Clamp for Hanging Glass Light fitting

Hi John, I did check but at the bottom the fixing is pretty substantial, the lamp holder fits on the end of a metal tube and the tube holds the weight of the glass shade via a number of smaller spacer rods at the top and bottom so there is no stress on the lamp holder at all. The whole lamps...

Cable Clamp for Hanging Glass Light fitting

I have a couple of long glass hanging lights in the Kitchen over the breakfast bar, which were fitted a couple of years ago when the house was built. One of the lamps dropped several inches and when I investigated I found that the weight of the lamp was help by a clear plastic friction nut...

    Replacing an old Toilet Pan

I am about to replace a broken toilet and I would like to use a more modern design that fits closer to the wall. The current toilet was installed in about 1960, and connects directly to the soil pipe which comes up through the floor. I have never replaced a pan before but most of the ones...

    Decent Table Saw Recommendations

OK in the end I went for the Metabo, basically because its a bit cheaper and as its for DIY use I didn't think I needed to pay the premium for a proper professional machine like the Bosch and Makits.

    Decent Table Saw Recommendations

Well much as I love living in Norfolk it does have some disadvantages, the main one I am having at the moment is actually seeing the tools I want to buy. I have now seen a fair number of Mitre saws but I have only managed to see one from shortlist. I have decided to buy a quality 12 inch...

Using Old Slab for Shed Base was (Leveling compound...)

In the end I gave up and asked the shed supplier to put down a base and they used a dry mix and some slabs with a minimum depth of dry mix of about 30mm. Base seemed very good and with the shed now on it I am pleased I got a good stable base as the shed is nice and true and feels very well...

    Decent Table Saw Recommendations

Hi Again, I am still trying to finalise which saws to buy, I am still confused as there seems to be a lot of variation in quality even in similar price ranges, for example having looked at a lot of Makita stuff (which I always thought was good) some does not seem to be not seem to be very good...

Yes it does have joists under the base but I am not sure which way they do but I can check in the morning. Interested in why you ask?

Using Old Slab for Shed Base was (Leveling compound...)

Um seems this is a problem, I think I need to use a minimum of about 25mm of concrete if I use 10mm gravel, that means the additional slab will vary between 25 and 60mm. Seem a bit of a waste as its all on top of a decent slab anyway. Trouble is I can't think of another solution.... Maybe...

Using Old Slab for Shed Base was (Leveling compound...)

Its a heavy duty shed and I will be keeping ride on etc in it, I want it to be level and supported across the whole width and I don't want it twisting and the doors jamming etc.

Using Old Slab for Shed Base was (Leveling compound...)

I have just uploaded a photo showing the slab and with the ladders showing the approximate size of the bit that I need to level for the shed to sit on. The existing slab slope with the right hand bit in the photo being slightly higher with a gentle slope down to the gully you can see on the...
