Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Battery light on constant

Alternator has failed. Dont matter if its the diode pack, regulator, stator, rotor, windings or what ever as the Alternator is a sealed unit so will need replacing as a whole. Gone are the days where you could whack a brush pack in and get the alternator back up and charging. The reason the...

    vauxhall vivaro 1.9 Power Loss

Will not rev past 2000k? Smoke from exhaust? EGR VALVE. Theres a little disc that drops off the end of the valve. You dont get an EGR fault code as the valve electrics still work. All to often you get an air flow related fault code. Valve is located to the rear right of the engine just...

    Transmission problem

Used to get this on the Mk2 Granadas and the gearbox used water based glues. When it happened the gear box would invaribly fail a short time latter. The trouble with Auto Gear Box's is they are incredibly complex with close tolerances. Water has very little lubrication value and depending on...

    Renault trafic glow plug light

Glow plug lights on diesels often double up as engine managment lights. How old is the traffic? Common fault is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve. This is relativly easy to remove and can be cleaned using carb cleaner.

    Door Question

This is the problem. My local B&Q cant cut it for me. Homebase are the only place I know of in Basingstoke who will be able to cut it for me. TBH not worried about paying a few quid more, just want to get the doors sorted so I can finish the bedroom.

    Engine trouble daignostic code

Yep you will need a code reader. Is it misfiring? If so chances are you will need a pencil coil. These can be brought from any good local auto factors

    Door Question

Pucker! Homebase offer a cutting service as well so can get them cut to shape. Will bear in mind about the flatness of the sheet when I get them.

    Engine trouble daignostic code

What car is it? You may be able to access the code without a code reader. Other then that call the AA/RAC out as they have code readers and will do it for free!

nissan micra wont start 52 plate

I agree. Micra's are notorious for flooding and can be a real struggle to restart. Basic Procedure is to remove fuel pump fuse, crank engine until it fires, replace fuse, crank until it fires and run engine at 2000 rpm for 5 mins to clear unburnt fuel out.

    Door Question

After some advice.... Have 2 built in wardrobes in my house and in one room the previous owner replaced them with some real mank looking handmade ones that are falling apart. In the first bedroom the original doors are still present and I have glossed them over (they are flat panels) and...

No it does not. The immobiliser is part of the ECU which is fitted inside the car. As for replacing the vales. Be carefull as several things may have happened. A: Valve guides may be cracked and need expensive replacement B: Piston rings may get pinched in groves causing engine to heavily...

Bathroom Question Tiling, waterproofing and heating!

Nice one! Tanking fits in pretty well with my plans, gives me the option to move everything in the bath room to maximise the space. So much for a quick refurb! Got a week off in Febuary so will attack the job then. Might even splash (no pun intended) out on a new bathroom suite.

    Vauxhall vivaro 1.9DI

Just out of interest did you drive through any standing water before she died? The force of the water often moves the fuel pipe backwards. Have seen several Vivaro/Traffics where the fuel pipe under the van running along the o/s chassis is bent backwards slightly causing it to kink. This...

    Calling Gearbox Boffins!

I'd be very surprised is it was your synchromesh tbh. More likley to be either the Cable (? think there cable on 206). First step(and cheapest!) would be replace cable. If its Hydrulic (I really cant recall!) then just bleed the clutch with fresh fluid may well help. A long shot may be to...
